Pittsburgh Steelers undrafted kicker Danny Hrapmann put up a valiant fight during the preseason, but his release on Monday signals a vote of confidence by the organization in kicker Shaun Suisham. Both kickers combined to make all 8 field goal attempts through the first three preseason games with the lone hiccup being a blocked 22-yard attempt by Hrapmann against the Indianapolis Colts that still made it through the uprights. The Steelers gave Suisham a new four year deal prior to the start of the 2011 season, and while releasing him in favor of Hrapmann would have saved just over $1 million Read more [...]

Is this the worst team-related tattoo ever?

Via Reddit/r/nfl comes this photo of one Steelers fan’s remarkable new tattoo, and … well … let’s just let the picture speak for itself: (Photo via reddit) No words … They should’ve sent a poet. Apparently, this work of art was created by this tattoo artist named Brian from central PA, who actually has a history of inking people with his child-like drawings, without...

Report: Steelers WR Mike Wallace To Arrive Tuesday

It is Monday and still no sign of Pittsburgh Steelers restricted free agent wide receiver Mike Wallace, who reportedly is going to show up and sign his one-year, $2.74 million tender this week. Mark Kaboly of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports Monday morning that there is no sign yet of Wallace, but that the word is he will arrive on Tuesday. As Kaboly also points out, it really...

Steelers Injury Report: Redman, Cotchery, Keisel & Sylvester Still Sidelined Tuesday

Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said on Tuesday that wide receiver Jerricho Cotchery (back), defensive end Brett Keisel (ankle), running back Isaac Redman (ankle) and linebacker Stevenson Sylvester (knee) all did not practice for a second straight day. Keisel suffered a mild high ankle sprain in the game Saturday against the Buffalo Bills and he is not expected to suit...

David DeCastro no ACL tear but significant damage to knee cap, patellar tendon, and MCL

If there is a silver lining to the David DeCastro’s knee injury suffered on Sunday night in Buffalo, it’s that apparently his ACL is intact. Still though, it’s a significant injury that will keep him out for quite awhile. He’ll need surgery to repair the damage once the swelling goes down, which could take as long as 1-2 weeks under normal conditions. Per Adam Schefter...

Mortty Ivy Hamstring Injury Opens Door Wider For Adrian Robinson To Make Roster

The only real surprise on the list of 15 roster moves made on Monday by the Pittsburgh Steelers was that linebacker Mortty Ivy was waived injured. I posted during the Steelers Saturday night preseason game against the Buffalo Bills that it looked like Ivy was shot in the back of his left leg in the second half and I wondered if he had injured his hamstring. Turns out that I was...

Steelers Corner Keenan Lewis: “Wallace Will be Here Today”

Ed Bouchette reported via Twitter that Keenan Lewis says Wallace will be in today to sign his tender. Lewis and Wallace are not only Steelers teammates, but childhood friends and Lewis has been in contact with Wallace throughout the off-season. However, Wallace may be having trouble getting to Pitt ContinueThe post Steelers Corner Keenan Lewis: “Wallace Will be Here Today” appeared...

Mike Tomlin Says He Intends To Help Amos Jones With Special Teams

New Pittsburgh Steelers special teams coach Amos Jones will be getting some special assistance from head coach Mike Tomlin this week as the team looks to improve both their punt and kickoff units before the team faces the Denver Broncos in the season opener. Through the first three preseason games the Steelers are averaging 3.2 yards per punt return and 18.6 yards per kickoff...

Nervous Steelers wait on DeCastro Scan

Pittsburgh Steelers coach, Mike Tomlin, has admitted that the knee injury that David DeCastro picked up during the 38-7 pre-season victory against the Buffalo Bills is “potentially severe”. The rookie right guard looks set to endure a lengthy spell on the sidelines, much to the  chagrin of Steelers’ fans betting NFL, after sustaining the injury to his right knee early on...

Steelers G David DeCastro Suffers Serious Knee Injury

A Steelers offensive line that has always been known to be a bit shaky just got a little more unstable. ESPN.com via Adam Schefter is reporting that Pittsburgh Steelers 2012 first round pick and potential starting guard David DeCastro suffered a serious knee injury Saturday night. Reports are that the rookie dislocated his knee cap, tore his medial collateral ligament and...

Steelers DeCastro may have suffered season-ending knee injury

The Pittsburgh Steelers may have lost right guard David DeCastro, who reportedly has at least a torn medial collateral ligament in his right knee. If DeCastro, who was the Steelers' first-round pick in April, also has an anterior cruciate ligament, then he will be out for the season, ESPN reported Sunday citing a team source. DeCastro will undergo a MRI exam Sunday to determine...

2012 KSK NFL Prekkake: Pittsburgh Steelers

The Steelers got to 12-4 last year by virtue of a soft schedule that pit them against the NFC West and AFC South. By the end of the year, half the defense was injured and Ben Roethlisberger was playing on one leg. Still, they should have been good enough to beat Tebow, but didn’t because Dick LeBeau decided not to play pass coverage. In the off-season, Pittsburgh finally made...

Steelers Offensive Line Grades & Breakdown Report Versus Bills

Below are my offensive line grades and breakdown of the Pittsburgh Steelers 38-7 preseason game win Saturday night against the Buffalo Bills. I always like to disclaimer that not knowing the exact play call and assignments on each play makes it tough, especially with the normal TV angles. The All-22 look is not available until the regular season begins and that will make grading...

Harrison & Worilds are off the PUP list

The Steelers starting 11 on defense is back to 100%…if you only look at their roster. James Harrison and Jason Worilds have been activated from the PUP list, and now the list that had five names on it when camp began is now completely empty. Harrison was bothered by a left knee issue early this summer and finally last week he decided to get it scoped a couple of weeks ago, which...
