Pittsburgh Steelers head coach, Mike Tomlin, announced this week that he has benched rookie linebacker, Jarvis Jones, in favor of fellow linebacker, Jason Worilds, reports Darin Gantt of NBCSports.
Jones, the 17th overall pick in the 2013 NFL draft, became the starter after one game but has recently caught the evil eye from coach Tomlin. “Dog Bones” Jones is now in the Steelers’ “doghouse” as Tomlin told reporters:
He’s [Jones] just not doing enough detail work right now and Jason Worilds is. That’s the reality of it. There is more detail in Worilds’ work right now than Jarvis.
Believed to be the heir apparent to James Harrison, the Steelers counted on Jones to make an immediate impact. It might be asking a lot of Jones to step in and be Harrison. However, Jones’ play so far this season is lackluster at best. Worilds’ play is not much better.
One thing is certain; the Steelers need more production out of either linebacker if they want to have any hope of beating the New England
