Pittsburgh Steelers inside linebacker and defensive team captain Larry Foote had surgery Tuesday to repair the torn right biceps that he suffered in the season opener against the Tennessee Titans. Now that he has been lost for the season, you have to think he's probably played his last down in Pittsburgh. Foote, who was an unrestricted free agent this past offseason, signed a three-year, $5.5 million contract with the Steelers right at the start of free agency, and that deal included a $1 million signing bonus. The veteran linebacker is scheduled to count $1.833 million against the cap in 2014 and the Steelers only stand to incur a dead money charge of $666,667 should they release him next offseason prior to June 1. The Steelers drafted Vince Williams in the sixth-round of the 2013 NFL Draft this past April with the hopes that he would eventually succeed Foote inside. In addition, they are hoping that Sean Spence, their third-round draft pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, will be able ...

The Steelers' success will be determined by the Offensive Line

For the last two seasons, the general knock on the Steelers was that their defense was perhaps too old to remain competitive.  They went on to field the number one defense in each of the last two seasons.  So much for being too old.  But big names such as Farrier, Hampton, Harrison, Foote, and Smith are now absent from that defense.  They’ll still give up some big plays...

Not the Best Start for Sanders

As most of you know, the Pittsburgh Steelers don’t discuss contracts during the season. With that in mind, Emmanuel Sanders will become a free agent at the end of this season since there was not extension granted to him. This doesn’t mean he won’t be a Steeler next year, but the likelihood is very slim. Unfortunately for Sanders, the opener was not the kind of debut he was...

Beachum a quick study at center for Steelers

Beachum finds himself facing an even more daunting task this fall: replacing Pro Bowl center Maurkice Pouncey. Beachum will start in place of Pouncey on Monday night when the Steelers travel to Cincinnati. Pouncey will have...

Reasons Why Ben Roethlisberger Wasn’t at Practice Today

Several Steelers’ beat writers tweeted out today that Pittsburgh Steelers’ quarterback Ben Roethlisberger was not at practice today. He was excused due ‘personal reasons’ but I think there is much more to this story. I have this boiled down to a few reasons why the 10th-year QB would miss practice coming off such an embarrassing loss. See if you’re on board with me here...

Steelers will start Redman in week 2

Isaac Redman was named the starting running back today by Mike Tomlin. Redman had a rough week last week, he fumbled twice and picked up eight yards on nine carries before getting benched. “Obviously he played a bad game,” Tomlin said Tuesday. “He’ll be given an opportunity to redeem himself.” With LaRod Stephens-Howling (knee) out […]

Steelers Versus Titans Sack Break Down

By Alex Kozora In weeks with multiple sacks allowed by the Pittsburgh Steelers, I’ll be breaking down each individual one, assigning blame, and keeping track of a “sack counter” for the guilty parties. And this week, with five allowed against the Tennessee Titans, was worthy of an article dedicated to it. Buckle up, this one is a bumpy ride. 1. 1st and 10, 2:06 left in the...
