Steelers Linebacker LaMarr Woodley was name AFC Defensive Player of the Month for October. This is no surprise Woodley was completely dominant. Woodley had 7.5 sacks in the month of October, the second highest in one month in franchise history. His sack yards were 56.5 yards which is the highest in one month in franchise history.

If I had to sum up the Patriots defensive game plan, it was to try to make Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger to force the deep ball. They often doubled speed receivers like Mike Wallace and Emmanuel Sanders, essentially taking away the deep ball. Pittsburgh had just two plays longer than 20 yards in the 25-17 win over the Pats.

Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, who passed for a season-high 365 yards and two touchdowns in a 25-17 victory against the New England Patriots, was named AFC Offensive Player of the Week -- the second time he won the award in the month of October.
