This Sunday at Heinz Field would be as good a time as any to have a breakout game in the rushing department if you’re the Pittsburgh Steelers. Heck, any week is a good time to have a good performance on the ground if you want to live by what the mantra of old in Pittsburgh; run the ball and play good defense. That hasn’t exactly been the weapon of choice in recent years for the Steelers, but it’s not for a lack of trying. Even if they are clearly, and no doubt clearly, a unit built to attack through the air, they still try to run the ball. There several reasons why it hasn’t been the most successful of strategies, not the least of which is the musical chairs at offensive line and injuries.
