With free agent safety Ryan Clark likely to culminate a contract agreement with Miami later on today, Pittsburgh has proactively addressed their future need at the position by signing Will Allen (Buccaneers) to a three year deal this morning.
Allen is by no means an upgrade over Clark, who established himself as a solid playmaker last season with the Steelers while All-Pro Troy Polamalu was recovering from a serious injury. That said, signing Allen is a good move for the club, as it quickly addresses the hole at the position that’s set to open up, without sacrificing a high round draft pick that would normally be needed to acquire an adequate player.
Terms of the deal have not yet been released, but as always, we’ll update this post when they become available.
