Steelers Nab Four Primetime, Six Standalone Games on 2024 Schedule
Nathan Ray Seebeck-USA TODAY Sports

The Pittsburgh Steelers will have four primetime games for the 2024 season. Pittsburgh’s first primetime game will be against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 5 on Sunday Night Football and then followed by consecutive primetime games when the New York Jets come to Pittsburgh for a Week 7 matchup on Sunday Night Football and the New York Giants in Week 8 on Monday Night Football. Their final primetime matchup is against the Cleveland Browns in Week 12 on Thursday Football.

Pittsburgh will have other standalone games, such as their Saturday clash against the Ravens and their Christmas matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs.

With only one Thursday Night Football game, there will be less time for shenanigans with the league’s schedule movement. The league is permitted to schedule teams for Thursday night games after a previous Sunday game on two occasions during the season. Previously, a team could only play one game on Thursday night after playing Sunday. This rule started last season.

On top of that, Monday Night Football has flex scheduling for Weeks 13-17. Pittsburgh had four primetime games a season ago, including two Thursday Night Football games. But this year, they have more standalone games and play every day of the week other than Tuesday and Friday. That will make for some odd schedules over a practice week and adjustments that Mike Tomlin and his staff must make.

Pittsburgh had at least five primetime games every year from 2019 to 2022. However, this continues the trend of the Steelers having only four primetime matchups. Still, they have six standalone games, making them a highly exposed team throughout their entire schedule. With Russell Wilson and plenty of marquee matchups on the calendar, Pittsburgh has lots to prepare for with the upcoming season and the twists it will take.
