The Sports Jags:
Ever since the draft, we’ve spent more time talking about the Steelers’ offensive line than we have talking about the Mike Wallace situation. Part of that is because we’re sick of the Mike Wallace situation but it’s mainly because even without a trade or a significant signing, the O-Line is going to look completely different form last year’s.
Maybe Willie Colon will be right and the Steelers will have one of the top two O-Lines in football next year, and maybe Colon will even stick around long enough to play in more than one game now that he’s on the interior. There are still a lot of questions with the line, especially at tackle, the position Colon abandoned by moving to guard at the coaches’ demand.
But one man could provide some answers at the tackle position who isn’t even on the roster…yet. If the Steelers sign Max Starks…again…when he’s healthy, he could sure up a tackle corps that might look good on paper but still hasn’t proved a damn thing yet.
Starks isn’t even on th

I received a few emails since the post yesterday in which I broke down the rushing of the Pittsburgh Steelers running backs by direction and was asked if I could post the stats of each running back by direction and down from 2011. I compiled the stats of just Rashard Mendenhall and Isaac Redman below as there really is no reason to do Mewelde Moore, Jonathan Dwyer and John Clay as...
On Tuesday Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Ike Taylor told John Harris on Trib Live Radio that restricted free agent wide receiver Mike Wallace told him while the two were together in Las Vegas this past weekend that he had more yards than both Jerry Rice and Randy Moss through each their first three years in the league. Taylor told Harris that Wallace said, "Man I got more yards...

It has been believed for some time now that Pittsburgh Steelers rookies David DeCastro and Alameda Ta'amu would miss the entire slate of offseason OTA and mini-camp sessions and that Mike Adams would only make the mid-June mini-camp because of school requirements. Ed Bouchette reports today via his blog that he was told on Tuesday that those three players can attend once their...
LET'S MAKE A DEAL
Steelers cornerback Ike Taylor says his teammate, Mike Wallace, is frustrated with his contract situation with the team.
And then there was one. Now that third-round pick ILB Sean Spence is locked up for four years, David DeCastro is the only draft pick that the Steelers need to sign – rumor has it it’s going to happen soon.
The Steelers picked Spence because they had a huge need at the inside backer position with James Farrior getting released and Larry Foote getting slower and balder. A lot...
PITTSBURGH - When the Pittsburgh Steelers told tight end David Johnson they wanted to move him to fullback full time this season, Johnson told coach Mike Tomlin he'd do whatever is necessary to stay with the team.
The way Johnson looked at it, the move cleared up the confusion he felt last season when he would spend all week meeting with the tight ends only to spend most games...
Quarterback Kordell Stewart was in Pittsburgh today and officially announced his retirement from football. Stewart took his last snap under center for the Baltimore Ravens back in 2005 and his retirement today, seven years after his last snap in the NFL, seems to have been an effort by him to get some kind of closure.
The man that was affectionately nicknamed Slash, because of his...

As we remember our soldiers this past Memorial Day weekend, I was thinking also about a topic to write about. I tend to do that a lot, multi tasking. While surfing through Google (man Mr. Google is amazing isn’t he?) I came across some information and quotes on Steelers 3rd yr NT Steve McLendon. However before going any further let’s be clear, by referencing a military topic...
Linebacker James Farrior, released by the Pittsburgh Steelers in March, is contemplating retiring, CBS Sports reports. Farriors agent, Ralph Cindrich, told KDFA-FM in an interview on the weekend that Farrior has yet to decide if hell retire, but they have talked to the Steelers regarding a potential news conference. Farrior said he intended to keep playing after Pittsburgh let...
