Former Steelers offensive coordinator, and current Cardinals head coach, Ken Whisenhunt is rumored to be on the hot seat in Arizona. If the Cardinals fire Whisenhunt they are expected to, at least, take a look at current Steelers offensive coordinator Todd Haley. Haley was the offensive coordinator in Arizona from 2007-2008. Hypothetically speaking if the Cardinals did hire Haley as their next head coach they would leave the Steelers looking for their third o-coordinator in as many years. That would be two coordinators to replace in the off-season with offensive line coach Sean Kugler leaving after the season to take over as the next head coach at UTEP. So the question would then become: who do the Steelers target to be their next offensive coordinator? Well, there would be some good options out there. The Steelers could look at San Diego’s head coach Norv Turner, who has had more success as an offensive coordinator than as a head coach in his career. There have already been reports that Turner is on his way out in San Diego after the 2012 season. Ken Whisenhunt may be another option. He was the Steelers o-coordinator from 2004-2006. However, there may still be some bad blood between the Steelers and Whisenhunt as he believed that he was the most logical option to be the successor to Bill Cowher in 2007. When the Steelers hired Mike Tomlin Whisenhunt left for Arizona. Arizona’s assistant head coach right now is former offensive line coach Russ Grimm, who was also a head coach candidate in 2007. Perhaps the Steelers could reunite with Grimm and Whisenhunt in 2013 and fill all of their coaching vacancies, but that is probably very unlikely.     The post Steelers Offense Could Change Again if Haley Leaves After 2012 appeared first on SteelBlitz.

The Steelers have to win this Division Match-up. Week 16 Preview.

The Steelers have to beat the Bengals this week if they want to keep their playoff hopes alive. The season is coming to a close and I'm sitting at 142-82.  That's over .600 but I can do better.   Here's a look at week 16 Atlanta at Detroit - The Falcons destroyed the Giants last week and silenced a few critics that say they can't win the big game...

Steelers Injury Report: Keenan Lewis Sits Out On Thursday

The Pittsburgh Steelers were back on the practice field again on Thursday as they continue to prepare for their must-win game Sunday at Heinz Field against the Cincinnati Bengals and the second injury report for the week is now out. Cornerback Keenan Lewis (hip) did not practice on Thursday after being limited on Wednesday with his hip injury that he re-aggravated in the loss...

Now is the Time for Steelers’ Veterans

I’ve seen many tweets and comments regarding how this week starts the ‘playoffs’ for the Pittsburgh Steelers. I don’t view it that way. This team has never been guaranteed a playoff spot this season and my argument is that the playoffs actually started with a ‘must-win’ game in Baltimore. The Steelers, behind Charlie Batch, won that game but have proceeded to lose the...

Steelers Need A Better Defensive Performance From Their Offense In Order To Make Playoffs

It is no secret that the Pittsburgh Steelers defense has struggled for a second consecutive season at getting turnovers and sacks. Those of course are two pretty big elements in winning football games, but outside of those glaring deficiencies the unit has not been awful. Through the first 14 games of the 2012 regular season the Steelers defense ranks first in yards allowed per...

Steelers Injury Report: Keenan Lewis, Mike Adams, Troy Polamalu

While Pittsburgh Steelers offensive lineman Mike Adams was able to practice at a limited capacity on Thursday, safety Troy Polamalu and cornerback Keenan Lewis were sidelined due to injury. Lewis sustained a hip flexor during a Week 14 matchup against the San Diego Chargers and aggravated the injury last weekend against the Dallas Cowboys. He apparently once again aggravated...

James Harrison says he’s lowered his target area on opposing players to avoid fines

Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker James Harrison has finally adapted to the NFL’s rules on hitting defenseless players below the head and neck area. “I’ve really lowered my target area to where it’s down around the knees,” Harrison said Friday on “Mike & Mike in the Morning.” “Situations come along where you could tackle the guy high. I don’t do that anymore. I...

Steelers Versus Bengals: Prediction & 7 Keys To The Game – Week 16

The Pittsburgh Steelers game Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals is a must-win game if the playoffs are to be in their future. There is no room for error as the Steelers have put themselves in this position thanks to four loses in the last five games. It is hard to believe that the AFC North crown is still also within their reach should they win and the Baltimore Ravens lose, but...

Cincinnati Bengals at Pittsburgh Steelers: Week 16 NFL Pick

Cincinnati Bengals (8-6) at Pittsburgh Steelers (7-7) Apparently the roof is falling in Pittsburgh. They’ve gone from favored by 4.5 to favored by 3 (passing two key numbers) and the public is still on Cincinnati. Why? Because they lost in overtime in Dallas in a game that was meaningless for them because they still control their own destiny? Because they lost another game as non...

James Harrison Says He’ll Go After Knees With Ban of Helmet-to-Helmet Hits

It’s no secret that many players in the NFL are upset over the enforcement of the rule against helmet-to-helmet contact. The argument is typically that it’s too difficult to adjust oneself in the midst of throwing a hit, and it isn’t a realistic target to eliminate such hits from the game. Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker James Harrison feels the same way — and might have a...
