Below are the initial week 12 offensive and defensive snap counts from the Pittsburgh Steelers 20-14 loss to the Cleveland Browns Sunday. Thanks to his two fumbles in the game Rashard Mendenhall only played 8 snaps in total, so basically you can say that he was benched. Isaac Redman saw only 5 snaps in the game and the same goes for him. Head coach Mike Tomlin obviously wanted to prove a point. Did he? Wide receiver Plaxico Burress only played 11 snaps and that is not too surprising considering how long he has been with the team. At least he was able to draw a pass interference penalty in Read more [...]

NFL Rumors: 2012 Will Be Last Season For Rashard Mendenhall With Pittsburgh Steelers

Many people figured that going into the 2012 NFL season, it could be the final year we see Rashard Mendenhall in a Pittsburgh Steelers uniform. It had little to do with the fact that he was coming off of a major knee injury from the end of last season, but the team made little effort to lock him up to a long term deal even before the injury. With Jonathan Dwyer and Isaac Redman in...

Plaxico Burress Admits To Running Soft Out Route On Interception

In a game that featured the Pittsburgh Steelers turning the ball over 8 times it is hard to pinpoint which of them hurt the team the most in their 20-14 loss to Cleveland Browns on Sunday. All of that aside, it certainly doesn't help matters when you hear that one Steelers player admitted after the game that he ran a soft out pattern that helped contribute to one of the three...

Mike Tomlin Says WR Mike Wallace Is Rightfully Frustrated

Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin was asked during his Tuesday press conference to talk about the performance of wide receiver Mike Wallace on Sunday and if his role will change moving forward. "You know, Mike was frustrated on Sunday and rightfully so," said Tomlin. "He is not producing in the manner he would like to or we would like him to. It’s a function...

Rashard Mendenhall demoted, Jonathan Dwyer now the starter in Pittsburgh

The Pittsburgh Steelers have made Jonathan Dwyer their new starting running back and have demoted Rashard Mendenhall to third string.  Isaac Redman will back up Dwyer. There’s no doubt though that Dwyer has been the Steelers’ best back this season, which is why he deserves to be their starter.   var _CI = _CI || {}; (function() { var script = document.createElement('script...

Tomlin in a No-Win Situation This Week

If Mike Tomlin were a Major League Baseball player he’d be in a slump of epic proportions. He’s not of course but his decision-making of late has been anything less than a home run let alone a base hit. From benching every running back that fumbled the football to his odd decisions to go for long field goals, call for fake field goals and go on fourth down at mid-field, Tomlin...

Perhaps Tomlin should just draw straws at Running Back this week

There were so many things that went wrong for the Steelers, in the week 12 loss to the Browns, not the least of which was the 6 fumbles (4 of them lost) by the running backs. No sense going back and reliving the 3 interceptions by Charlie Batch and the final fumble on the last drive of the game; but hey, who’s counting? For the last month or so Mike Tomlin has preached about going...

Ben Roethlisberger Still Unlikely To Be Ready To Play Against Ravens

Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said Tuesday during his press conference that quarterback Ben Roethlisberger threw on Monday and that the door was still open for him to play Sunday against the Baltimore Ravens. While that sounds like a very optimistic outlook, Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported via Twitter on Tuesday after Tomlin talked to the media that...

Plaxico to make Steelers debut in 2012

Wide receiver Plaxico Burress is active and will play for the Pittsburgh Steelers, who will not have Antonio Brown when they face the Browns. Burress was re-signed earlier this week by the Steelers, who drafted him in 2000. Burress was needed because of injuries to Brown (ankle) and Jerricho Cotchery (ribs). Emmanuel Sanders will start for Brown, who was listed as questionable all...

Steelers' Dwyer named Sunday starter

Pittsburgh Steelers running back Jonathan Dwyer will start at the position Sunday in Baltimore, head coach Mike Tomlin announced. Tomlin cited consistency and health as reasons that he chose Dwyer. "He's been consistently the most productive guy," Tomlin told reporters. "I think we have a large enough body of work to be able to identify that at this point....
