Below are the initial week 13 offensive and defensive snap counts from the Pittsburgh Steelers 23-20 win over the Baltimore Ravens Sunday. Despite head coach Mike Tomlin saying that wide receiver Plaxico Burress might be more involved in the offense this week, he only played 1 snap. He wouldn't have even got that had Mike Wallace not gotten dinged late in the game. Running back Chris Rainey also saw the field for a just a few plays as well as both Jonathan Dwyer and Isaac Redman received the predominant amount of snaps at the running back back position. Defensively there weren't any surprises. Read more [...]

The Terrible Podcast – Talking Mike Tomlin Presser, Injuries, Roster & Michael Gehlken Interview Episode

Season 3, Episode 51 of The Terrible Podcast is up and co-host David Todd and I talk about the Tuesday press conference given by Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin as well as recap the injuries heading into the game Sunday against the San Diego Chargers. Will Ben Roethlisberger play or won't he? Are the days of Plaxico Burress and Brian Hoyer numbered with Roethlisberger...

Writing on the wall for Byron Leftwich and Rashard Mendenhall?

You don’t have to be a conspiracy theorist to rationally think to yourself that both Rashard Mendenhall and Byron Leftwich may very well be looking at their last season in a Steelers uniform. Given the production of both players this season, or lack thereof, the lack of playing time post injury, and the recent updates by Mike Tomlin in his Tuesday press conference this week, things...

Mike Tomlin and John Harbaugh share tense handshake following Steelers-Ravens

Another Harbaugh, another handshake issue. This time, though, it was Ravens head coach John Harbaugh who got into it with the opposing coach during the handshake. Even though Harbaugh came over to congratulate Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin, Tomlin looked as though he was going to run right off the field without speaking to Harbaugh following the teams 23-20 victory.Harbaugh made...

Chargers Head Into Steelers Game With Offensive Line Decimated By Injuries

The Pittsburgh Steelers currently have a very banged up roster as was evidenced by the run down of injuries by head coach Mike Tomlin during his Tuesday press conference, but the San Diego Chargers, who the Steelers will host Sunday at Heinz Field, have a decimated offensive line right now. In the Chargers loss this past Sunday to the Cincinnati Bengals they lost starting right...

Steelers can afford to sit Roethlisberger for the time being

In Mike Tomlin’s weekly Tuesday press conference he confirmed that Charlie Batch is the starter and they are preparing for the Chargers with that mentality. Ben Roethlisberger threw what Tomlin described as  ”successfully” on Monday and they will continue to evaluate his progress during practice this week and see what happens. While he didn’t officially give a status for...

Ebb And Flow Will Likely Result In Rashard Mendenhall Being Gone In 2013

Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin made it clear on Tuesday that the running back depth chart would not change this week and that former first round draft pick Rashard Mendenhall would have to wait for his next opportunity, if it ever comes. Mendenhall was one of the 7 inactive players this past week against the Baltimore Ravens and appears to be headed for that same fait...

Mike Tomlin and John Harbaugh exchange awkward handshake

The Pittsburgh Steelers had just upset the Ravens in Baltimore with a third string quarterback. And then this happened following the game. Meeting on the field after the game Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin and Ravens head man John Harbaugh shared what can best be described as an awkward handshake. There have been plenty of odd handshakes over the years so maybe we are just reading...

Charlie Batch hits sound guy's microphone with bad pass (Video)

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Charlie Batch hit a microphone held by a sound guy in the back of the end zone while overthrowing receiver Mike Wallace during Sunday's NFL game against the Baltimore Ravens. Batch either made a terrible throw or displayed incredible accuracy, depending on your point of view on this play. H/T OTB. Visit us at http://holdoutsports.com...

Wallace Remains Listed as Co-starter On Week 14 Depth Chart; Mendenhall The 3rd Running Back

The newest media release for the Pittsburgh Steelers is now out for the upcoming Week 14 game against the San Diego Chargers and the included depth chart shows no changes from last week as both Mike Wallace and Emmanuel Sanders are still listed as co-starters opposite Antonio Brown and Rashard Mendenhall remains listed as the third string running back. Despite the perceived demotion...

Steelers’ “Young Money Crew” Needs a Credit Check

I find it almost humorous how quickly articles can change in my mind through the course of a Pittsburgh Steelers’ football game. There were so many things to be critical of as the game wore on yesterday as the Steelers seemed headed for a third straight loss. Despite the fact they won yesterday, I can’t sit here today and wax poetically about everything I saw. In my mind, Mike...

Jonathan Dwyer will remain the Steelers’ starting running back

According to Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin has indicated that Jonathan Dwyer will remain their starting running back. #Steelers Tomlin: No change at RB this week, Dwyer starts. “Rashard will get an oppty to redeem himself at some point . . . not now.” — Ed Bouchette (@EdBouchette) December 4, 2012 Dwyer has been the Steelers...

Deck stacked against Steelers, how will they respond?

Round 2 of the best rivalry in the entire NFL kicks off today at 4:25pm as our Steelers and the hated Baltimore Ravens take to the field of battle at M&T Bank Stadium. We’ve been saying since the Steelers were sitting at 2-3 that every game was a must win game. The margin for error was small then, it’s even smaller now but that window is still open even if our team should...

Time is Now for Haley’s Offense

In the final four weeks of the 2012 National Football League season, the Pittsburgh Steelers will have three of their final four games at home. The three home game opponents are a combined 7-11 on the road with Cincinnati being a surprising 4-2 away from ‘Heinz Field West.’ One stat which I know I cringe at every time I see it is that this week’s opponent San Diego, is 0-14...

Ravens head to the locker room with the lead

On their final drive of the half, the Steelers got within seven points of the Ravens, but it could have been worse. On an offsides penalty by Haloti Ngata, quarterback Charlie Batch threw the ball to Mike Wallace. However, Wallace dropped the ball. Later that drive, Wallace was wide open, but Batch overthrew his receiver. Pittsburgh settled for a field goal and the Ravens have a...
