Steelers 2013 Draft Analysis: Outside Linebacker – Early Look At The Rankings

Christopher DiMarino It's time to start looking at the positions that the Pittsburgh Steelers will look to draft in April. I like to start with a very broad scope, so if certain players surge leading up to the draft, I'm prepared. It is also a good idea to get a feel for a player before the combine, so you can tell if players are rated high just based on one weekend of workouts...

Grading the Pittsburgh Steelers’ Round-by-Round Value in the 2005 and 2006 NFL Drafts

Remember 2005 and 2006? More people were using MySpace than Facebook, banks didn’t need bailouts and Bill Cowher was still the Pittsburgh Steelers coach. The 2005 and 2006 NFL drafts were the Steelers’ last two under Cowher, and they continued to stock their roster with players who would contribute to Super Bowl teams. Three months after winning Super Bowl XL, the Steelers drafted...

Yearly History Lesson – So You Want The Steelers To Make A Splash In Free Agency?

As we get closer to the start of the free agency signing period, more and more names of free agent players are being suggested as potential targets for the Pittsburgh Steelers on social media sites and the blogosphere. Every year it is my job to play the bad cop and remind everyone how the Steelers are not a team that has been very active during the free agent signing period ever...

Hines Ward The Next Steelers Wide Receivers Coach? – Nope, Not Happening

It was reported early on Friday that Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver coach Scottie Montgomery has decided to return to Duke University to become their new offensive coordinator and immediately a good portion of the black and gold fanbase started suggesting that former wide receiver Hines Ward should be hired to replace him. Yeah, that's not going to happen. Former NFL...

Jonathan Dwyer Will Fit as a Running Back in the Zone Blocking Scheme

There is a reason that Mike Shanahan has always had a very good running game; it’s known as the zone blocking scheme. Todd Haley implemented that scheme in Kansas City and he had the number on rushing team in the league. Last year the Chiefs used the scheme again with new Steelers offensive line coach Jack Bicknell Jr. and they had the fifth best rushing team in the league. Shanahan...

Steelers DE Brett Keisel Shears The Beard A Third Time For Children’s Hospital Of Pittsburgh

Pittsburgh Steelers defensive end Brett Keisel hosted his third annual "Shear Da Beard" event Thursday night at Jergel's Rhythm Grille. The annual event once again benefited the cancer programs at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh at UPMC and was sold out way in advance. Hines Ward is Unlikely to Become the Steelers New Wide Receivers Coach

It was announced this morning that Scottie Montgomery, the Steelers wide receivers coach, would be leaving the team to become the offensive coordinator at Duke. Montgomery coached wide receivers for four years at Duke, his alma mater, before taking the same position with the Steelers in 2010. Montgomery has helped mold Mike Wallace, Antonio Brown and Emmanuel Sanders. That is saying...

The Steelers Could Potentially Be Doing A Lot Of Assuming On The Offensive Line Going Into 2013

The Pittsburgh Steelers are up against the salary cap again this offseason and they will have to make a lot of tough roster decisions. Last offseason, the team cut ties with veterans Hines Ward, Aaron Smith, James Farrior, Bryant McFadden and others in order to get under the cap. This time around the Steelers are looking at the possibility of losing six starters from week one of...

Steelers DE Brett Keisel Shaves His Beard For Charity (Photo)

Steelers defensive end Brett Keisel probably will go down as having one of the dopest beards in all of sports let alone beard history. Keisel has allowed his beard to grow for years, but recently cut it off to be a part of the “Sheer Da Beard” promotion to benefit the cancer programs at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh at UPMC. Keisel spoke about why he shaved and what the...

The Steelers Last Three Drafts Haven’t Been Great, but They Haven’t Been Terrible Either

There has been a lot of talk this off-season about the Steelers last couple of drafts. Many fans are upset with the Steelers last few drafts and believe they need to turn things around in 2013 to get back to the playoffs. The problem with that thinking is that the last three drafts for the Steelers haven’t been all that bad. In fact, the Steelers have found some very good players...

No, The Steelers Will Not be Making a Trade for Percy Harvin

The Minnesota Vikings are rumored to be exploring trades for Percy Harvin. That of course means fans from every team have now decided that they should make a trade for him. Sorry to burst your bubble Steelers fans, but it’s not happening. Now I can see the thought process here. The Steelers are losing a fast play-maker receiver in Mike Wallace so why not replace him with another...
