The misery continues. Unfortunately, only three weeks into the season, we can almost say with a fair amount of certainty that the Steelers will not be in the playoffs and will not be making a run for their seventh Super Bowl. How could it have all gone so wrong so quickly? Well, it’s really a combination of things. There were losses to free agency on both sides of the ball. There were injuries to key players. There was the implementation of a new blocking system with a bunch of young players who are all still pretty new to the NFL. There is no one thing you can point to that is the “cause,” but there are plenty of contributing factors. And now, the Steelers will travel to London to take on RB Adrian Peterson and the Minnesota Vikings. Let’s have a look at this games and see if we can find a way for the Black and Gold to go into their bye week with a win. Know Thine Enemy It seems all too clear to me that the Steelers are missing guys like LBs James Harrison (free agent) and Larry Fo...

Vikings, Ponder concerned fractured rib could protrude into his heart

Despite experiencing no issues during practice on Thursday, the Minnesota Vikings sat Christian Ponder on Friday and the quarterback will not play in the team’s game against the Pittsburgh Steelers in London on Sunday. The reins of the sputtering, ineffective offense have instead been given to backup Matt Cassel. While Vikings fans have been clamoring […]The post Christian Ponder...

Pittsburgh could face Matt Cassell this week in London

Today Tom Brady could have dropped some sensitive information like something you would expect from Adam Schefter. The whole thing started when Brady was asked about his relationship with former Patriots backup quarterback Brian Hoyer, who threw three touchdown passes in the Browns 31-27 win over the Vikings on Sunday. That question led Brady to give […]

Steelers Really Don’t Have Any Excuses This Week

At 0-3, most teams will have a plethora of excuses already in hand to explain why they aren’t successful. In Pittsburgh, those include injuries, a questionable offensive coordinator and a bad offensive line. This week should be different though shouldn’t it? Le’Veon Bell is expected to play for the first time in his career and may even start according to some reports although...

Pittsburgh Steelers running back Isaac Redman told Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette recently that he was allowed to re-enter the week two game against the Cincinnati Bengals despite having suffered a concussion during the opening kickoff. Isaac Redman admits he returned to game with a concussion

Pittsburgh Steelers running back Isaac Redman shared some information with reporters on Wednesday that is likely to make Roger Goodell cringe and could result in his team being fined. During Pittsburgh’s Week 2 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals, Redman left the game and the team announced he was being evaluated for a concussion. Apparently he […]

Ryan Clark says he’d retire before he’d play for a London team

Yesterday I wrote about the very real chance that an NFL team could make its way across the pond. Steelers safety Ryan Clark pointed out one of the key hurdles that could hold back the expansion. “I’d retire. I’d definitely retire,” Clark said. Clark said he doesn’t see how an NFL team in London could compete, and doesn’t see why any NFL player would want to play there...

Brian Hall's Sept. 26 Vikings mailbag

Well, I thought things had begun to turn for quarterback Christian Ponder, at least according to the feedback I was receiving on Twitter (@mnbrianhall). The outrage over Ponder's struggles continue and the fans' feelings were well known as he was booed each time he took the field last Sunday. But my Twitter followers had begun to turn their anger to the entire team and questioned...

Minnesota Vikings: 2013 Week 4 NFL Power Rankings (#30)

Last week: 28 (-2) The Jaguars might have “won” the Teddy Bridgewater bowl when they lost to the Raiders week 2, but the Vikings might have “won” the Tajh Boyd bowl by losing to the Browns last week. It’ll be interesting to see if they actually pull the trigger on a quarterback early in 2014. Head Coaches are usually very stubborn when it comes it giving up on quarterbacks...

Tom Brady Inadvertently Reveals Matt Cassel Might Start at Quarterback for Vikings on Sunday

Tom Brady still has a close relationship with a lot of his former teammates, especially the quarterbacks. That may have led to him letting some private information slip on Wednesday. Brady revealed during his weekly press conference that former Patriots and current Minnesota Vikings quarterback Matt Cassel might be starting for the Vikes in London this weekend. “I’m friends with...
