The struggling Pittsburgh Steelers have new injury issues on both sides of the ball.
Already dealing with multiple injuries to their offensive line and quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, the Steelers said Tuesday that running back Mewelde Moore has a high ankle sprain and defensive end Aaron Smith has a mid-foot sprain.
Both players could miss multiple games with the injuries, depending on the severity. The Steelers gave no timetable for the return of either player but did not rule Moore or Smith out, either.
Moore is used primarily on third down and in the two-minute offense. He has six carries for 43 yards and four catches for 61 yards this season.
Smith has eight tackles this season, his 13th in the NFL - all with the Steelers.
Sunday's 17-10 loss at Houston dropped AFC champion Pittsburgh to 2-2. A year ago, the Steelers got off to a 3-1 start despite being without Roethlisberger, who was suspended.
