The Pittsburgh Steelers have released running back Jonathan Dwyer and have activated tight end Heath Miller from the physically unable to perform list.
#Steelers activate TE Heath Miller from PUP list. He's active. Also released RB Jonathan Dwyer, which is somewhat surprising.

What’s really interesting is that the Steelers kept Felix Jones over Dwyer.
It seems like Miller should be ready to go soon after rehabbing from ACL surgery.

When the Pittsburgh Steelers selected Jonathan Dwyer in the sixth round of the 2010 draft, I thought he would end up being a steal. Through his first two seasons with the team however, Dwyer hadn’t shown much other than short flashes while running for 151 total yards. That, coupled with constant reports of Dwyer showing up to camp out of shape, didn’t help the young running back...
We won't know for sure what the Pittsburgh Steelers final 53 man roster will look like for several more hours so that means the fate of running back Jonathan Dwyer currently remains up in the air. I suggested on Twitter during the game against the Carolina Panthers that the Steelers should look into trading Dwyer […]

Heath Miller is a crucial piece in the Pittsburgh Steelers offense and was recently activated off the PUP list.
Miller has come off the physically unable to perform list just before the Steelers first game of the season against the Tennessee Titians. There was a lot of speculation surrounding when the tight end would make his way back into the lineup. Miller is expected to only...
Jonathan Dwyer’s release from the Pittsburgh Steelers was one of the surprising moves in the NFL in teams’ attempts to get down to a 53-man roster. Dwyer was expected to be a utility back in the Steelers ground game, which looks stouter now than it has in some time.
Ryan Wilson of CBS Sports was able to give us some insight as to why the Steelers may have made the move:
Former Steelers running back Jonathan Dwyer passed through waivers without being claimed. He’s now a free agent and can sign with any team he wants.
Forget to mention earlier, ex-Steelers RB Jonathan Dwyer also among those who cleared waivers and is now an unrestricted free agent

According to Mark Kaboly of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, Steelers tight end Heath Miller should be back in about a month or so.
Miller is due back in a month or so after completing his recovery from offseason knee surgery. Until then, the Steelers will scramble for production at the position. Spaeth is out indefinitely with a foot injury, leaving the position in the hands of...
Some things gotta hurt more then others. Like when you’re at the club and all the girls keep passing you up left and right at the bar and then finally, when all the hot guys are gone and you’re left there competing against the doofy looking guy with the Bill Gates haircut and glasses who’s wearing a sweater vest and you say to yourself ‘man, the next girl’s just gotta...
The Steelers have waived running back Jonathan Dwyer.Fantasy Spin:Dwyer showed up overweight to training camp and according to Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the Steelers grew tired of his "lack of dedication to his job." Felix Jones made the team and will back up Isaac Redman until Le'Veon Bell returns to action.
The Steelers have activated Heath Miller from the active/PUP list.Fantasy Spin:Miller still might miss all of September after suffering a tear of three ligaments in his knee last season, but the Steelers are keeping their options open. If they placed him on the reserve/PUP list, he would have to miss the first six weeks.
