The Pittsburgh Steelers made more news on Wednesday as it is now being reported that linebacker Larry Foote, tackle Levi Brown and cornerback Curtis Brown have all been released. Foote only played in the season opener last season as a torn biceps suffered against the Tennessee Titans sidelined him for the rest of the season. Foote, who signed a three-year contract just last offseason, was scheduled to count $1,833,333 against the salary cap in 2014 and his release now clears $1.5 million in cap space. The release of Levi Brown was very much expected. The Steelers traded for the tackle in the middle of last season but he was lost for the year with a triceps injury suffered in warm-ups prior to the game against the New York Jets. His release will clear $6.25 million in much needed cap space. The release of Curtis Brown, the Steelers third-round draft pick in 2011 NFL Draft, will likely clear another $555,000 in cap space unless there was some sort of injury settlement included. Brown tore his left ACL last season in the first meeting against the Cleveland Browns and didn't have surgery until after the season ended. The result of all of these terminations likely cleared around $8.25 million cap space and should put the Steelers under the $133 million based on everything that has happened this week.
