The Steelers have signed former Bengals linebacker Brandon Johnson to the 90 man roster. Johnson is a good special teams player. He has never been much of a contributor on defense but has played in every game since he entered the NFL. He is tough guy though who goes all out. Something the Steelers love in their players.
Johnson will likely be battling for a roster spot with Stephenson Sylvester as he is more of an inside linebacker. This seems odd as the Steelers have been very high on Sylvester and he is just coming into his own. He is also a good special teamer and a much better athlete. Johnson would be solid though on the roster.
The Steelers also signed long snapper Matt Katula. They had to release two players to get these guys on the roster. The team released Wes Lyons and Connor Dixon.
