The Steeles played their best defensive game of the year versus the Titans last week.  Now the question is do they make changes and put guys where they belong or do they stick with what worked.  I can not harp on how much I want Ziggy Hood in the lineup anymore.  We all saw the difference in how everyone, especially LaMarr Woodley played.  The big question this week is if healthy does Jason Worilds or Lawrence Timmons play outside linebacker?

The Steelers have been grooming Worilds to take over for Harrison in the future but he was out with a Quad injury last week and was unable to fill in.  Harrison is out for an extended period of time with his eye socket injury still and now it comes down to will Worilds take over and Timmons go back to the middle or will Timmons stay outside?  There are some pros and cons to each.

If Worilds takes over on the outside the Steelers will have a better pass rush.  Worilds is a good rusher and Timmons will out pass rush Larry Foote every day of the week.  After last week’s defensive line performance and Farrior making all those tackles Timmons would also be better off back in the middle.  If Farrior made 13 tackles Timmons could have had a field day.

Where it will hurt some is in pass coverage.  If there was one thing I liked about Timmons being on the outside it was that when the Tight End or Running Back caught the ball out of the backfield they went down right there.  Unlike when James Harrison was out there and he has to chase to keep up.  Not a knock on Harrison at all.  Timmons is just so athletic that the plays stop there because he is in front of it.

The run defense should be fine either way.  If the defensive line plays the way it did last week all the linebackers should be able to make plays around the ball.  No matter who is in there , they will be able to get the job done.  Timmons will definitely be the better defender versus the run on the outside but Worilds should not be a big drop off.

I think if I had to make the decision I would have Timmons move back inside.  Let Worilds get in there and get some work in.  We are playing Jacksonville who likes to run the ball with Maurice Jones-Drew.  Worilds can get his feet wet and we can see what we have for the future.  If he shows up at all like the young guys did last week then we are in for a bright future.
