The Pittsburgh Steelers lost to the Cleveland Browns 20-14  Sunday and below are my first half notes from the game with the second half notes to follow soon. The Browns open with an explosive play to Josh Gordon on an underneath shallow crossing route. It was against the Steelers zone defense and caught them off guard a bit. It would, however, be their only explosive play of the game. Ike Taylor and Ryan Clark collide making the stop, but both wound up being alright. Clark did have to leave the game momentarily though. On the second down pass that would follow, Brandon Weeden severely under Read more [...]

With Charlie Batch at Helm, Steelers Should Still Win

While the Steelers offense certainly will miss Roethlisberger, the Steelers defense as well as a solid run game and a “good enough” passing game should propel them to victory. Oddsmakers currently have the Steelers to have about a 54% chance to win this game. At Sports Tradex, which is a free prediction marketplace that awards prizes to users who perform the best weekly, the...

Week 12: The Pittsburgh Steelers @ The Cleveland Browns

The Pittsburgh Steelers are looking to rebound from a very tough loss at the hands of the Baltimore Ravens in week 11. Turnovers and a big punt return touchdown cost the Steelers a game they had a very good chance at winning. When it was all said and done the Ravens had squeaked out a 13-10 win and had taken a two game lead on the Steelers in the AFC North division. In week 12 the...

Jaguars Sign WR Toney Clemons Off Of Steelers Practice Squad

The Pittsburgh Steelers have one less wide receiver on their practice squad right now as the Jacksonville Jaguars signed Toney Clemons to their 53 man roster today. Clemons was drafted by the Steelers as their first of four seventh-round picks (231st overall) of the 2012 NFL Draft out of Colorado. The rookie registered just one catch for 14 yards during the preseason for the...

Ben Roethlisberger Still Unlikely To Be Ready To Play Against Ravens

Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said Tuesday during his press conference that quarterback Ben Roethlisberger threw on Monday and that the door was still open for him to play Sunday against the Baltimore Ravens. While that sounds like a very optimistic outlook, Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported via Twitter on Tuesday after Tomlin talked to the media that...

Browns fans set Ben Roethlisberger dummy on fire (PHOTO)

@AnthonyLimaFAN Prior to Sunday’s Browns – Steelers game, Cleveland Browns fans lit a Ben Roethlisberger dummy on fire. Poor Big Ben twitter.com/AnthonyLimaFAN… — Anthony Lima (@AnthonyLimaFAN) November 25, 2012 The good news for the Browns today was that Roethlisberger didn’t play on Sunday and Charlie Batch made the start and threw a load of interceptions that led to...

Perhaps Tomlin should just draw straws at Running Back this week

There were so many things that went wrong for the Steelers, in the week 12 loss to the Browns, not the least of which was the 6 fumbles (4 of them lost) by the running backs. No sense going back and reliving the 3 interceptions by Charlie Batch and the final fumble on the last drive of the game; but hey, who’s counting? For the last month or so Mike Tomlin has preached about going...

Jonathan Dwyer To Start Against The Ravens? New Depth Chart Shows Him On Top

The pre game media release for the Pittsburgh Steelers upcoming game Sunday against the Baltimore Ravens is now out and the included depth chart has a noticeable change on it at the running back position. Jonathan Dwyer is listed atop the running backs this week on the depth chart with Isaac Redman listed behind him and Rashard Mendenhall listed third. In the pre game release...

Steelers Have Jonathan Dwyer Listed As Their No. 1 RB

Rashard Mendenhall came into Week 12′s matchup as the Steelers starting running back, but that appears to have changed if the team’s recently released depth chart is any indication. Ed Bouchette tweets that Jonathan Dwyer is now listed as the team’s starting running back, while Mendenhall has dropped to No. 3 behind Issac Redman. The fact that Mendenhall fumbled twice probably...

Browns push past hobbled Steelers 20-14

So how do you feel about the Browns beating the Steelers? It certainly feels better than the alternative. The Browns defense was dominant against a non-quarterback in Charlie Batch, but they also crushed the entire corps of Steeler running backs. Four fumbles lost and five if you count the one that happened on the last “razzle dazzle” attempt by the Steelers. In all the Browns...

Steelers' Ben Roethlisberger Could Return For Re-MatchAgainst Ravens

Despite the serious nature of Ben Roethlisberger's injury, the Pittsburgh Steelers may get their quarterback back in time for next weekend's re-match against the Baltimore Ravens.  Some outlets, like CBS Sports, had predicted Roethlisberger's quick return.  Now it seems close to being confirmed. According to Chris Mortensen of ESPN, Big Ben will start throwing (soft...

NFL Rumors: Mike Holmgren shown the door in Cleveland, where will he land?

With new ownership in place, the Cleveland Browns had already decided to replace team president Mike Holmgren with Joe Banner. The move was announced mid-season but Holmgren is now finished with the franchise with Sunday being his last game with the Browns. Was this the swan song for Holmgren as he finds his way into the broadcast booth or will he return to the sidelines next season...

Brandon Weeden suffers concussion in Browns win

Even when they win the Cleveland Browns can not escape bad news. Defeating the Pittsburgh Steelers for just the second time in eighteen games the Browns moved to 3-8 on the season. The bad news for the Browns is that quarterback Brandon Weeden suffered a concussion. Weeden was flung to the ground and hit his head on the knee of his own left tackle, Joe Thomas. After a walk to the...
