The Pittsburgh Steelers wore throw back uniforms in Sunday’s win over the Washington Redskins. Much of the attention about this game was given to the match-up between Robert Griffin III and the Steelers defense. When the game was played Dick Lebeau used his 53 years of experience to frustrate the Redskins offense.
Ben Rothlisberger connected with Leonard Pope for an early touchdown and the Steelers added three more points on a field goal by Shaun Suisham. The Redskins countered with a touchdown pass from Griffin to Santana Moss.
The Steelers would score ten more points in the second quarter courtesy of a touchdown pass from Rothlisberger to Heath Miller and another field goal by Suisham. The Steelers carried a 20-6 lead into halftime and never looked back.
Kai Forbath connected with two second half field goals for the Redskins but the inability to find the end-zone was their fault. Pittsburgh added another seven points on a touchdown pass to Will Johnson.
In the Steelers were too much for Griffin and the Redskins. Griffin finished the day 16-for-34 with 177 yards passing. By contrast the Steelers quarterback was 24-for-33 for 222 yards. Jonathan Dwyer led the Steelers ground game with 107 yards rushing.
Trailing by 15 with just over four minutes remaining the Redskins failed to convert on a fourth down which seemed to sum up their day.
These throwback jerseys are based on the ones used by the Steelers in 1934. They are part of the teams celebration of its 80th season.
The Steelers will wear these throwback uniforms again when they play Baltimore on Nov. 18.

Now I understand Robert Griffin III is a very good athlete and can do all kinds of things, but having him go out for a pass wasn’t a smart thing … Continue reading »
It may not be a good idea to put the already-fragile future of your franchise in compromising situations against a defense known to be head hunters. The Redskins learned the hard way. Robert Griffin III lined up at wide receiver and tried to haul in a pass from wide receiver Josh Morgan, but was called for offensive pass interference before taking a vicious lick from...
In the stock market, much like fantasy football, you want to buy low and sell high. Using that philosophy, is it now time to consider trading Washington Redskins rookie QB Robert Griffin III? I believe it is. Griffin has had a remarkable run as a rookie, showing exceptional promise for his career, but it’s time to maximize his performances on the field and cash in by trading the...
In an attempt to get something going against the Pittsburgh Steelers offensively on Sunday, Mike Shanahan decided it would be a good idea to try a little trickery with Robert Griffin III. The Washington Redskins called for a play that appeared to be a reverse to receiver Josh Morgan, but instead Morgan became the quarterback and Griffin the receiver. And RG3 got lit up by Steelers...
By now you all should be well aware of the record that Pittsburgh Steelers defensive coordinator Dick LeBeau has against rookie quarterbacks since his return to Pittsburgh in 2004. If you are not, it is 14-1.
When LeBeau was the Steelers defensive coordinator the first time around in 1995 and 1996, he was 2-0 against the two rookie quarterbacks during that span of time, so essentially...
Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III attempted to play wide receiver against the Steelers on a play that I’m sure worked a lot better in practice.
Steelers’ Ryan Clark unloaded on Griffin…and BOOM goes the dynamite. I know I’m just a blogger but maybe the Redskins should think about letting Griffin just work on being a better quarterback.
In what will be a rare occurance to ever happen in National Football League history, the past two Heisman Trophy winners will meet at FedEx Field in Washington, DC next Sunday as the 2011 Heisman Trophy winner in Robert Griffin, III of the Washington Redskins will play host to the 2010 winner of college football’s most prestigious award in Cam Newton of the Carolina Panthers. Both...
We all know that RG3 infectious smile, confident tone we hear in the press conferences win or lose. Well check out this throwback picture of Robert Griffin III from high school. Remind you of anybody?
My first thought, that lovable geeky character, Bowfinger.
All in good fun, but thank goodness RG3 got that hair twisted up, don’t know how much of the shag fro we could’ve taken.
Check out this awesome Redskins Halloween display, featuring a carved pumpkin of QB Robert Griffin III!

All the hype coming into this one was about the Redskins sensational rookie quarterback Robert Griffin III (and the Steelers 1934 throwback uniforms). Last week I wrote about Dick LeBeau and what the Steelers might do to slow him and the Redskins offense down. Mission accomplished. No doubt RGIII was hurt by drops from his receivers, but...
The Pittsburgh Steelers will look to go above .500 for the first time on the 2012 season. With a win over the Washington Redskins the Steelers will move to 4-3 and will be one game behind the Baltimore Ravens who lead the division at 5-2. So far during the 2012 season the Steelers have suffered tw ContinueThe post Week 8: The Pittsburgh Steelers vs. The Washington Redskins appeared...
There was some great quarterback play Sunday and it didn't come from the well talked about, and highly hyped, Washington Redskins rookie Robert Griffin III as Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger was head and shoulders better than the one that they call RG3 at Heinz Field.
Roethlisberger was 24-of-33 for 222 yards with three touchdowns on Sunday as the Steelers...
PITTSBURGH -- Robert Griffin III might be the freshly anointed one, but Ben Roethlisberger and the Pittsburgh Steelers showed the Washington Redskins' rookie quarterback what an elite performance looks like. Roethlisberger was an efficient 24 of 33 for 222 yards and three touchdowns, Jonathan Dwyer carried 17 times for 107 yards, and Pittsburgh's defense stymied Griffin...

The Steelers are 13-1 against rookie quarterbacks since Dick LeBeau returned as defensive coordinator in 2004, but perhaps the best rookie QB they have faced in that time will be at Heinz Field this afternoon ...
