Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Mike Wallace says he's focusing on the final three weeks of the season, not his uncertain future with the team or the booing he received during last week's loss to San Diego. Wallace said he understands why some people are ''out to get'' him following his lengthy holdout during training camp. He returned to the Steelers without the extension he wanted and will become a free agent at the end of the year. The 26-year-old is on pace to match the numbers he put up in 2011, when he made his first Pro Bowl but has made a handful of critical mistakes. He dropped a pass in the first half against the Chargers that would have given the Steelers (7-6) a needed boost. --- Online: http://pro32.ap.org/poll and http://twitter.com/AP-NFL

Reasons Why The Steelers Are Unlikely To Release Rashard Mendenhall

The Pittsburgh Steelers announced on Tuesday that they have suspended running back Rashard Mendenhall for one game for conduct detrimental to the team. Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported a short time after that he was told the detrimental conduct was Mendenhall failing to show up at Heinz Field on Sunday for the game against the San Diego Chargers after being told...

DeCastro Set To Make First Career Start Against Cowboys

On Tuesday Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin confirmed during his press conference that left guard Willie Colon had surgery on his left knee on Monday. The injury is expected to sideline Colon for the rest of the season. With Colon now sidelined rookie guard David DeCastro will get the opportunity in practice this week to show that he can play. Tomlin said that the plan...

What is the mindset of the Steelers with 3 regular season games to go?

What exactly is the mindset of the 2012 Pittsburgh Steelers, now with just 3 games left on the schedule and the playoffs getting closer by the day? Are they truly a confident team like we always hear them talk about, or is there some doubt in the locker room with their identity and what they are capable of? It would be hard to blame them if there are doubts about the game plan every...

With Colon out, Ramon Foster will shift...

Steelers Versus Chargers Game Rewind – First Half Notes – Week 14

The Pittsburgh Steelers lost to the San Diego Chargers Sunday 34-24 and below are my first half notes from the game with the second half notes to follow soon. The quick screen to Mike Wallace on the first play was an excellent call to get Ben Roethlisberger an easy first throw and Wallace involved in the game early. I called for such a thing in my pregame 7 keys article as well...

Not Surprisingly, Charlie Batch To Remain Backup Quarterback Moving Forward

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Byron Leftwich is not on the injury report this week for the first time since he injured his ribs in the 13-10 loss the Baltimore Ravens back in Week 11. Although he has apparently returned to full health he has not returned to his spot on the quarterback depth chart as Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports via Twitter that Charlie Batch...

Steelers suspend Rashard Mendenhall for one game

According to Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-gazette, the Steelers have suspended running back Rashard Mendenhall for one game, for conduct detrimental to the team. https://twitter.com/EdBouchette/status/278641981436071936 Mendenhall was recently to third string and I’m sure he’s not too happy about that, which has led to this suspension.   Need NFL Tickets? var _CI ...

Dan Rooney is coming home for good. Timothy McNulty of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette is reporting on Thursday that Rooney will resign as U.S. ambassador to Ireland on Friday after serving three plus years in Dublin. The move has been expected to be coming for some time now. The 80-year-old Steelers chairman emeritus returned to the US just last week after learning about the...

Steelers LB Woodley new owner in PBA league

LaMarr Woodley is trading football cleats for bowling shoes. The Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker is among the new owners involved in the PBA's Professional Bowling League that kicks off in the Detroit suburbs next month. Steelers Might Not Be Able To Dress All Five Wide Receivers Against Cowboys

The Pittsburgh Steelers dressed five wide receivers last week against the San Diego Chargers for the first time this season as Jerricho Cotchery was able to return to action after missing the previous two games with busted  ribs, but that might not happen this week against the Dallas Cowboys thanks to injuries at other positions. Head coach Mike Tomlin was asked during his press...

Pittsburgh Steelers: Week 15 NFL Power Rankings (#11)

Last week: 7 (-4) Record: 9-4 Net points per drive: 0.11 (13th) DVOA: -0.5% (15th) Weighted DVOA: 2.1% (13th) If they can win week 16 against the Bengals, they should still be in the playoffs regardless, even after a loss to the Chargers at home. The Bengals really missed a chance at home for Dallas this week. I think they get that one and while they’re at it, I think they win...

Steelers playoff hopes alive but if they keep playing this poorly it won’t matter

The Steelers continue to receive gift after gift from the rest of the NFL. Even the loss today at Heinz Field, 34-24 to the lowly Chargers still leaves them in control of the 6th seed in the playoffs by virtue of the Ravens and Bengals both losing. I’ve said it many times this year, if the Steelers have 9 lives they are burning through at a rapid pace. As Mike Tomlin said in his...
