From NESN:

Most, if not all, of New England woke up to a snow surprise on Wednesday morning, and Stevan Ridley made sure he was ready for the inclement weather.

Ridley, who has shown off his unique style in the past by sporting this jumpsuit, rocked an even more outlandish, storm-inspired outfit at Gillette Stadium on Wednesday.

Beyond the style of it, though, Ridley said the cold and snowy weather played a big part in his decision to sport the colorful footwear.

“It’s Boston, man,” Ridley said with a laugh and a smile. “This is my stay-warm outfit.”

While chatting with reporters after practice, Ridley was decked out in one of his patented blue jumpsuits but this time it was also accompanied by some impressive footwear — err, moon boots.

Ridley was wearing some rainbow snow boots that resembled something maybe only seen on astronauts before. Yet, as unbelievable the outfit was, Ridley was one of the few, maybe on earth, able to pull it off.

Those boots certainly look like they could keep even an Eskimo warm, so I’m guessing the Mississipi native wasn’t bothered by a breeze and a few flakes.

Here's another look at the boots:

  • I am distressed that some of our young ones will read a story like this and think that the manner of speech is ok. Do 'sportswriters' have to have any education beyond 2nd grade? examples: 2nd sentence "in the past", "in the past." what are to get from that, that it's REALLY in the past? EVEN WORSE: "an even more outlandish outfit in lieu of the storm at Gillette Stadium." "In lieu of" means (simply) "instead of", "in place of." So he wore this outlandish outfit instead of wearing the snow storm? Wow! Proofreaders?
  • What is your analysis on "what are to get from that,"?
  • what are to get from that?
  • well said, morn_afta! It's humorous how some of these guys just toss out fancy words and phrases like 'in lieu of' without having a clue as to the meaning (and the rest of the article ain't so good either). I am constantly amazed at the substandard writing in these articles. Jeez, we're not looking for Shakespeare here people- just try some basic literacy! I'm pretty sure they don't use proofreaders...
  • YUP,He's Ready for Kindergarten! GET IN DA CAR!
  • What's the big deal with the moon boots. You make it sound like they were just created. Skiers have been wearing them since the 80's. They are comfortable, warm and great for a snowy day.
  • I live in Breckenridge, Colorado and I can tell you that there are not many that will break out their moon boots on a snowy day. That's WAY old school.
  • Steven is a former LSU player- we do not have cold weather down here!!

Go Steven you look great but you looked even better in the "purple & gold"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • These moon boots...I must...have a pair...now.
  • he looks so comfy...wish more men were that confident.
  • RAINBOW COLORS

    WHAT A ***

  • "FAGGINIZATION OF AMERICA"
  • "what are to get from that" , really ? Edit your responses before criticizing others morn_afta !! GO PATS and MOON BOOTS are wicked AWESOME !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • I'm surprised there was no mention of that wild backpack of his. I guess those "space boots" kept everybody's eyes away from Ridley's upper body.
  • The jumpsuit, backpack and moon boots. That's a lot to take in.
  • He or she? Inquiring minds want to know.
  • "Yet, as unbelievable the outfit was, Ridley was one of the few, maybe on earth, able to pull it off." Wow, who do they hire to write these articles? This is one of the most poorly written sports articles I have ever read and that's saying something! Please, take some writing courses or see if Target is hiring!
  • Steve , You should wear those when you stomp on Ray Ray
