According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, free agent NFL wide receiver Steve Breaston is thinking about heading over the Germany to undergo the Regenokine treatment to try and repair knee inflammation and early arthritic symptoms. It is the same treatment that players such as Kobe Bryant and Alex Rodriguez underwent to help save their careers. During the procedure, a small cup of blood is removed from the patient, and then it is incubated at a slightly elevated temperature and spun in a centrifuge to make serum that’s injected to combat inflammation that may resolve the player’s irritation. Breaston feels his knee is fine but he is being advised by his family and one of his agents, Eric Metz, to explore this revolutionary procedure that worked well for NBA standout Grant Hill, who shared the same doctor, Thomas Carter of the Phoenix Suns, according to a source. Breaston believes he could pass a physical now and sign a one-year deal with Pittsburgh, but he is said to be seeking a longer-term solution to his knee problems, said the source. He plans to continue to train and improve his knee until he is ready to sign with an NFL team. Breaston will be turning 30 years-old in August and if he’s concerned about his long-term NFL career he may want to undergo the procedure to help prolong his time in the NFL.   Need NFL Tickets? var _CI = _CI || {}; (function() { var script = document.createElement('script'); ref = document.getElementsByTagName('script')[0]; _CI.counter = (_CI.counter) ? _CI.counter + 1 : 1; document.write(''); script.type = 'text/javascript'; var _CI = _CI || {}; (function() { var script = document.createElement('script'); ref = document.getElementsByTagName('script')[0]; _CI.counter = (_CI.counter) ? _CI.counter + 1 : 1; document.write(''); script.type = 'text/javascript'; script.src = ''+_CI.counter; script.async = true; ref.parentNode.insertBefore(script, ref); })();

Chiefs May Have To Make Some Cuts Before Monday To Franchise Dwayne Bowe

According to Adam Teicher of the Kansas City Star, the Chiefs will be about $7.5 million under the  salary cap at the start of the new league year on March 12. While that’s typically a decent position to be in, the Chiefs are expected to franchise WR Dwayne Bowe before Monday’s deadline, which means that they’ll need to free up some additional cap space pretty soon if...

Deadline looms Bowe decision

KANSAS CITY, Mo. With all the talk this week about the Chiefs' desperate need to shore up their quarterback position, a process they presumably started with the pending Alex Smith trade, coach Andy Reid and general manager John Dorsey have another pressing issue: A desperate need to improve their weak wide-receiver corps. To start, the Chiefs almost surely will have to reel...

The Sports Hound: 2013 NFL Mock Draft 3.0

The NFL Draft Combine has come and gone, some players have raised their stock and some have hurt theirs.  Andy Reid and the Chiefs have agreed to trade for Alex Smith from the 49ers which takes away the uncertainty of the #1 overall pick.  It will definitely NOT be Geno Smith, it’s the other Smith. [...]

Alex Over Geno Smith: Kansas City Chiefs’ History of Thrift-Store QBs

The Kansas City Chiefs do their QB shopping at the thrift store. The latest purchase? Alex Smith. Scott Kacsmar examines a franchise that has gone 30 years since drafting a QB that won a game for them.

Smith could end Chiefs' QB drought

When assessing the Kansas City Chiefs' acquisition of Alex Smith, let's start with what he is not: He's not an aging and injured Joe Montana. Smith is not a stiff and mediocre Steve Bono. Smith shouldn't be compared to an unproven Elvis Grbac or an unworthy Matt Cassel. Let's don't even analogize Smith to Trent Green, who was 31 years old when he arrived...

Alex Smith Traded to Kansas City Chiefs, Fantasy Football Analysis

The big talk around the National Football League the past few days has been about the trade agreed to by Kansas City and San Francisco that will send Alex Smith to the Chiefs for a second round draft pick in 2013 and a conditional draft choice in 2014. At first, the compensation seems a little staggering but in today’s NFL, you need a quarterback to compete and new Chiefs head...

2013 NFL Mock Draft – Edition 3.0 – Post Combine

1. Kansas City Chiefs – OT from Texas A&M – Luke Joeckel – With Alex Smith now their QB, they need a LT. The best LT in the draft is Joeckel despite the rise from Central Michigan OT Eric Fisher. Joeckel should be their LT for at least 10 years. Alternative Pick: OT from Central [...]

Vikings mentioned in mix for QB Cassel

It’s unclear if it’s raw speculation or has some teeth to it, but the Vikings are being mentioned as a potential landing spot for QB Matt Cassel after his expected release.

2013 NFL Mock Draft Vol. 2

Here is the second version of my 2013 NFL Mock Draft with a few adjustments. 1. Kansas City Chiefs Luke Joeckel, OT, Texas A&M After locking up their primary concern [...]

Free Agent WR Steve Breaston Considering Regenokine Treatment For Knee

Free agent wide receiver Steve Breaston met with the Pittsburgh Steelers on Thursday, but left town without being signed. Now the free-agent wide receiver is considering having a knee procedure done overseas. Adam Schefter of ESPN reports on Saturday that sources have told him Breaston is considering undergoing Regenokine treatment in Germany. That treatment has also been used by...
