The Penalty Flag:
Steve Smith of the Carolina Panthers was resurrected by way of Cam Newton and the explosive season the rookie quarterback had last year.
This year, things are a bit different.
As Cam Newton and the once explosive offense fails to ignite, Smith’s frustrations build. Even though he recently signed a three-year extension games like the one he had this last Sunday make him contemplate how long he plans to stay in this game.
In an article by Tom Sorensen of the CharlotteObserver.com he went about his normal post-game interview with Steve Smith, but things were a bit different.
Can you really envision yourself leaving?
“You’d be surprised,” Smith says.
Smith was thrown a team-high 13 passes during the game.… Read more

Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton has been criticized this season for his demeanor following losses. The second-year player was called out for conducting a postgame press conference following a Week 3 loss to the Giants where he didn’t look up while answering questions. He also reportedly held up the team’s bus after a Week 4 loss because he was sulking in the locker room...
Cecil Newton, the father of Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton, first defended his son's perceived poor attitude of late, but then added it needs to change.
The Carolina Panthers enter the bye week with plenty of problems to fix, not the least of which is the inconsistent play of quarterback Cam Newton.
Coach Ron Rivera says he thinks Newton is pressing. Rivera says Newton ''wants to make things happen so much. . It's all part of him developing as a football player.''
Newton, last year's AP offensive rookie...
Carolina running back DeAngelo Williams had a bad game along with the rest of the Panthers’ offense on Sunday, and the seventh-year player lashed out against his angry fantasy football owners after the team’s 16-12 loss to the Seahawks..
Williams had just six carries for six yards and a fumble in Carolina’s defeat. The poor showing had some fantasy owners sending him angry...
Cam Newton’s play this year is certainly giving credence to the idea of a sophomore slump. The throw in that gif from late in the 4th quarter with a chance to get the lead virtually sums up his performances thus far this season. He hasn’t been effective in any game this year, and his attitude seems to be getting worse with each loss; perhaps expectations were too high after...
The Carolina Panthers won't have starters Chris Gamble, Jon Beason and Geoff Hangartner against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday.
Gamble, a cornerback, was doubtful with a shoulder injury. Beason, a linebacker, was doubtful with a knee injury. Hangartner, an offensive lineman, was questionable with a knee injury.
Captain Munnerlyn will start for Gamble, while rookie Luke Kuechly...
Carolina Panthers starting quarterback Cam Newton needs a hug. I just have this mental image of him sitting down in front of a baby grand piano, scooching the bench a little closer, placing his fingers upon the keys, then letting go with a long, audible sigh.A small child, eyes bright with wonder, heart bursting with love, mind overloaded with a insatiable desire for knowledge of...
The results of Week 5 left Panthers OL Ryan Kalil no choice but to purchase another newspaper ad.
The Seahawks are on the road again this week taking on yet another opponent they should be able to beat in the Panthers. The lynchpin of Carolina's offense is still Cam Newton, who through four weeks has been putting up similar numbers to those from his Pro Bowl rookie season. He's getting plenty of help in the ground game from DeAngelo Williams, but his only...
