In 2011/12 Steven Hauschka played 16 games. He was 34/34 on XP's, and 25/30 on FG attempts, including two of more than 50 yards.

A nice start for the guy that gave Pete Carroll and John Schneider a reason to cut former Pittsburgh Steelers kicker Jeff Reed in the Seahawks 2012 training camp, after he'd (we thought) won the job.

On Monday the Seahawks incumbent kicker signed his one-year qualifying tender from the Seahawks, according to the player-salary database on the NFL Players Association Web site where his 2012 salary is listed at $1.26 million.

PER Danny O'Neil of the Seattle Times,

Quote: File this little transaction away in the corner reserved for other moves that stand as little more than foregone conclusions. Hauschka was a restricted free agent, but the deadline has passed for him to sign an offer sheet from another team. At that point, his return was largely academic. Hauschka will have camp competition in 2012 from UDFA signing Carson Wiggs out of Purdue.

Wiggs ranks first on Purdue career field goal percentage at .715 (37-51) and third with 37 field goals. He owns the top four longest field goals in school history (59, 55, 53 and 52).
