Howard Balzer reports that RB Steven Jackson has officially voided his current contract and will test the free agent market next week.
Jackson, 29, will pass on a $7 million salary for the 2013 in the hopes of securing more guaranteed money in his next contract.
The Rams have said that they want Jackson to retire in St Louis and he’s also mentioned that this would be an ideal situation, so a return is certainly feasible.
The Falcons and Packers have been tossed out as speculative options for Jackson given their need for a No. 1 running back, so it will be interesting to see how much interest he garners in the next few weeks.
We have Jackson listed as the No. 17 best available player in our Top 50 Free Agents list.
