It’s been reported this offseason that the Washington Redskins and linebacker Brian Orakpo have wanted to get a long-term extension done before he enters the final year of his current contract.
With training camp just over a month away, the two parties have yet to work on an extension. The good news however is that Orakpo doesn’t appear to use the lack of new paper as ammo to hold out of camp.
“I’m not worried about it,” Orakpo told the Washington Post last week. “I’m concentrating on having a successful season. Everything will take care of itself.”
Orakpo, 26, is coming off another torn pectoral that cost him his second straight season. While Orakpo’s career has gotten off to a great start, Washington may want to wait until they see how he’s recovery before visiting long-term contract discussions.
We have Orakpo listed as the No. 17 player in our Top 50 – 2014 Free Agents list.
