Eaglesqb

This week the Eagles continued to be plagued by costly penalties and untimely turnovers, keeping the Ravens in the game until the end. The Eagles had a great balance of run and pass in the first half forcing the Ravens to respect the run and opening up the field for a huge dose of Brent Celek. Celek who was the forgotten man in the Ravens defensive scheme torched the Ravens for 90 yards receiving in the first half alone. The turnovers, two fumbles by Eagle running backs were the difference in the first half giving the Ravens a 17-7 halftime lead.

The second half was all about the Eagles defense. With tremendous secondary coverage the Eagles front line managed to keep the pressure on Joe Flacco and their scoring limited to two long field goals. The Eagles moved the ball North and South with huge contributions from DeSean Jackson’s 100 plus yards and more of Brent Celek in the second half.

The Eagles offense struggled to keep Vick protected with two key injuries on the offensive line. Despite the lack of protection, Vick delivered in the final minutes for the second game in a row. Perfect when he had to be, Vick finished off the Ravens with a quarterback sneak to take a 24-23 lead. The defense finished the job, shutting down Flacco in the final 1:51, giving the Eagles a 24-23 win and a 2-0 record.

Game balls, Juan Castillo and the entire Eagles defense, who controlled the tempo all of the second half. Brent Celek for his huge catches and picking up the load of Maclin. And finally Michael Vick who despite being pounded and knocked down by the Ravens all day and throwing two more interceptions, HE STOOD TALL, DELIVERING WHEN THE GAME WAS ON THE LINE. The new nickname for Vick, the Comeback Kid.
