The Houston Texans put together a complete performance to best the Minnesota Vikings on Friday, 27-13. Backup quarterbacks T.J. Yates and Case Keenum combined to throw for 276 yards and two touchdowns, while receivers Lestar Jean and DeAndre Hopkins each finished with 52 receiving yards.
Matt Schaub didn’t account for a touchdown, but he did complete all five of his pass attempts for 34 yards, and he got out of there without suffering an injury. With what seems like two capable backups, Houston should have no worries at quarterback this season.
The most memorable moment was the first touchdown catch for much hyped rookie receiver DeAndre Hopkins. The former Clemson star leaped up to grab a 34-yard touchdown pass from T.J. Yates over Minnesota’s Bobby Felder. You can bet Andre Johnson likes what he sees across the field from him for the first time this season. Youngster Cierre Wood led the team in rushing with 59 yds with Ben Tate and Arian Foster taking the night off.
On defense, poor tackling by rookie safety D.J. Swearinger allowed fullback Zach Line to rumble 61 yards for a short catch and run for a Minnesota score. The Texans also had two interceptions — one by Shiloh Keo (to set up the first score) and Eddie Pleasant. J.J. Watts, Brian Cushing, and Ed Reed were held out.

Texans Offensive POG: Case Keenum
This should be a no brainer to most. The home town native, Case Keenum has made a huge step this offseason and he showed it of Friday night. With the highest passer rating of the night of all Texans quarterbacks (109.7), Keenum went 13/18 for 125 yards and a touchdown. Keenum showed off what he did so well at the University of Houston...

After a long off season the NFL has returned and the preseason is now in full swing for every team I’m the league. The Texans opened up their campaign against 1 of the 4 teams that actually beat them last season in the Vikings. There was plenty to watch for during the game. Whether it was the battle at RB to determine who’ll take the teams 3rd and final RB spot, or maybe you...
No one player makes the team what it is, but there is one player that is hard to replace when/if he goes down—the quarterback. If he can’t execute the play it does not matter how good the rest of the team is. When the guy that starts with the ball is not up to the task the whole unit suffers.
Just ask fans of the Bears what that was like back in 2011. Arizona Cardinals...
Someone asked me recently why I always post these videos of the Houston Texans Cheerleaders dancing. My response was pretty straightforward: (1) I'm a big fan of the Texans and their cheerleaders (2) They are cheerleaders--do I need a reason?

I think he understood pretty well just after those two, but when I gave a third reason...
With Arian Foster still on the PUP list, the Houston Texans were already looking thin at running back heading into their preseason opener against the Minnesota Vikings on Friday night. This issue was exacerbated when top reserve running back Ben Tate left practice last Friday because of groin injury. Tate missed the next two team practices, and despite returning to limited action...
The first preseason game ended in a 27-13 win for the Houston Texans over the Minnesota Vikings. The Texans did not play 20 of their players and were missing some key starters on the offensive and defensive side of the ball. Plenty of positives came out of the game and it was a good step to see the Texans without plenty of their core players on the field.
DeAndre Hopkins and Cordarrelle Patterson both showed off their first-round talent.
Hopkins caught a 34-yard touchdown pass for the Houston Texans in a 27-13 preseason victory on Friday over Minnesota.
The Vikings also showcased their rookie wide receiver, too, during a flashy first half by Patterson.
Hopkins, the 27th overall pick in the draft, had four receptions for 52 yards...

The Texans could have as many as 20 players sitting out Friday night’s preseason opener, meaning the Vikings will be seeing a lot of young players trying to make a quick impression.
