Of the almost two dozen Super Bowls I’ve had the good fortune to have covered through the years, Sunday’s 21-17 Giants victory made the top three. The quarterback match-up of Eli Manning against Tom Brady, the coaching match-up between Bill Belichick and Tom Coughlin and the fact it was a rematch of one of the best Super Bowls ever played just four years ago all swirled together to form high drama with the trophy on the line. And it more than lived up to its potential. Toss in some legitimate defense played by both teams, some late-game drama and Manning’s prime-time performance and you had all the makings of what a title game is supposed to look like. The top three Super Bowls I’ve covered: –Super Bowl XXXIV. Titans wide receiver Kevin Dyson was tackled by Rams linebacker Mike Jones one-yard short of tying the game on the game’s last play. Often lost in the haze of memories was Kurt Warner’s moon-shot throw to Isaac Bruce for a 73-yard touc...

Patriots backup QB Brian Hoyer: “I don’t know if I’ll ever meet someone as tough as (Brady) is”

There was a scary moment in last night’s Super Bowl XLVI, when QB Tom Brady was crushed by Giants DL Justin Tuck. He got up shaky, and doctors surrounded him. Quickly, backup Brian Hoyer began to throw. Brady ended up going back in, but he finished 7 for his last 17, and he wasn’t the same. After the game, I asked Hoyer what those moments were like. “I just gotta...

Brady unable to add to legacy

Tom Brady already has built an impressive Super Bowl legacy, but his bid to match the accomplishments of the game's all-time greats was snuffed out by the New York Giants - again. Brady came up short in his bid to join Terry Bradshaw and Joe Montana as the only four-time Super Bowl-winning quarterbacks when the New England Patriots fell to the New York Giants 21-17 in Super...

Instant analysis: Giants hold on to beat Patriots, Ravens ask 'What if?'

Matt Vensel, Sports Blitz : A fun game down to the whistle, this one was eerily reminiscent of the last times these teams met in the Super Bowl. Eli Manning -- who said before the season the he was elite and lived up to it -- was so cool down the stretch and the Giants put enough heat on Tom Brady to seal the win. Can you believe Eli has more titles than Peyton and one fewer than...

Super Bowl Review

In keeping with the integrity of the campaign to make Super Bowl Monday a national holiday, this will be quick. It was a brilliant game. The Giants made one more play than the Patriots did.
