I hope we have all caught our collective breaths after last week’s streak-breaking, Overtime win against the Pats as the Jets have what some would argue to be a bigger test ahead of them this week in the upstart Cincinnati Bengals. This match-up has gone overlooked a midst the “controversy” surrounding what many are now in-artfully referring to as “Pushgate” nevertheless there is still a game to be played this weekend so here’s everything you need to know Injury Report – Expect Santonio Holmes to miss another game while Jeff Cumberland is likely to go for the Jets. As for Cincy, outside of corner Leon Hall being out for the year, wide receiver Marvin Jones could be a game time decision. Story Lines of Note  When Exactly is “Tone Time”? OK, I gotcha. The fact is, we’re moving on, we earned that victory, plain and simple and we’re focused on Cincinnati now.” -Rex on Belichick Claims that the Jets Also Violate the “Push Rule” Dan’s “Two Cents” This has the makings of a game that is very pivotal for the Jets in terms of everyone’s perception of them (as if that ever mattered to anyone but Woody). If they somehow go into Cincinnati and knock off the 5-2 Bengals, it’s likely going to create some potentially unwarranted expectations for this team and there will undoubtedly be a lot of people jumping on the ole’ bandwagon and prematurely making some bold predictions with half a season left to play. The implications not withstanding, this is a tough match-up for the Jets as despite their history of success against the Bengals, are facing a very formidable Cincinnati team with a lot of weapons on Offense and a very stout albeit somewhat banged up Defense. I would expect a similar amount, if not more Nickel looks on Defense because of the presence of A.J. and two athletic, pass-catching Tight Ends in Tyler Eifert and Jermaine Gresham. This could be a classic case of “pick your poison” (appropo for Halloween) for Rex and Dennis Thurman as the Bengals seemingly have more weapons than the Jets have quality Defensive Backs capable of stopping them. Antonio Allen will probably be playing a lot of snaps for the second consecutive week but it will largely be up to Rex and his defensive “think tank” to come up with a Game Plan that dares the Jay Gruden and the Bengals to run the ball. On the flip-side, it should be interesting to see how Marty Mornhinweg decides to attack the Cincinnati Defense. Although he has seemingly fallen back in love with the run in recent weeks, it may be time that old “Aggressive Marty” begins to rear his head again especially with the recent injury to Cornerback Leon Hall. However, he will once again be short of several key weapons including Santonio Holmes who is still nursing that hamstring injury and Kellen Winslow as he continues to serve out his suspension. I don’t mean to sound like a broken record here but if Geno can take care of the ball and somehow speed up his internal clock to avoid taking bad sacks, then the Jets have a real shot here. On the other hand, my gut feeling on this game is not very good but I do think the Jets will at least cover the spread.
