The San Francisco 49ers suspended running back Brandon Jacobs for the final three games of the regular season, the team announced Monday. Jacobs voiced his frustration about his standing with the team on the picture-sharing service Instagram on Saturday. In a series of comments, Jacobs said he was "rotting away" with the 49ers, hated playing for the team and that the team was winning because it has talent, insinuating it wasn't due to the coaching staff. Coach Jim Harbaugh was asked about Jacobs' comments Monday, but declined comment. "I'll go with the Fifth Amendment," Harbaugh said, before the suspension was announced. "I have no comment about that." It wasn't the first time Jacobs took to social media to voice his displeasure about his role with the team. On Nov. 15, he tweeted that San Francisco was treating him "Terrible" and that someone should "Never work in a place where you hate your boss so much, you should always be happy at work." He later said the boss comment wasn't due to his own situation, but that of his brother, who recently had been let go from him place of work. With Frank Gore and Kendall Hunter playing well, there was no obvious role for Jacobs, but after Hunter was lost of the season with a torn Achilles on Nov. 25, Jacobs was the likely candidate to see an increased role. In the first game without Hunter, Jacobs had four carries for six yards in what turned out to be his last appearance with the team. On Saturday, Jacobs wrote on Instagram that he is "on this team rotting away" and "this is by far the worst year I ever had." The next day, he was inactive in favor of rookie LaMichael James. Jacobs has cleared out his locker.
