Philadelphia Eagles defensive end Jason Babin is expected to miss about a week of practice after suffering a calf strain, but the intriguing part of the story is that an MRI must be delayed because Babin swallowed a thermometer. The story is not as odd as you might think, however. As explained by the Philadelphia Inquirer, the thermometer is not the standard thermonter used by most people; it is a pill the players swallow. When it is ingested, a trainer can gauge the player's core temperature. About 25 players on the Eagles used that thermometer on Saturday, and Babin was one of them. The pill must pass through the player's system before he can undergo an MRI.
