There are always two sides to the story. And in this instance, for Ray Lewis, it’s good news that he is temporarily off the hook for allegedly taking deer antler velvet spray. According to CBS Sports, S.W.A.T.S. owner Mitch Ross has publicly apologized to Lewis for the Sports Illustrated article this past week. “I never saw Ray put [the spray] in his mouth,” Ross said during a press conference on Friday. “I want to apologize to any athletes that this story hurt. I’m trying to right the wrong with Ray Lewis.” Ross, who met Lewis through assistant coach Hue Jackson in 2008, defends the speculation with chips. “Hue Jackson is a hero for starting to work with me in 2008,” Ross, the president and founder of S.W.A.T.S., said. “I did not walk in the Ravens’ door with deer spray, I walked in with chips. I gave Hue Jackson these chips at the Ravens’ Owings Mills facility. He gave these to Ray. Ray liked them. That’s the truth.” In terms of the whole story, Ross claims the article was elusive and he believes he was catfished (like Manti Te’o). “The story was wrong,” the supplement maker commented. “I have been catfished. It’s the truth. It’s sounds goofy and it’s embarrassing to say.” Currently, Ross has received death threats from Ravens’ fans due to the misconceptions. Whether or not this report will affect No. 52′s performance on Sunday remains to be seen.
