For the second consecutive week, the Eagles will enter The Linc with first place on the line, except this contest is even bigger than the last. Not only would a victory over Dallas raise our collective spirit somewhat, the distance over the rest of the division would be about as commanding as single game can get.

3-0 in the NFC East, with wins against all three rivals, is a stranglehold.

These games also serve as the tiebreaker, essentially growing a one game lead to two. We can cry over the spilled milk that is the Oakland game all season long, but that loss doesn't matter a whole helluva lot if they can assert themselves over the Giants and then the Cowboys too. The Birds obviously need to keep the momentum going, which admittedly is not a simple task with the schedule that lies ahead. A win here though, and they're on the inside track to the playoffs.

There's something positive to think about as you go about the rest of your week.  On to some storylines.

44-6

You might say their last encounter was a memorable one. The Eagles offense rang up 27 first half points in a Week 17 playoff, while the defense ravaged a desperate Tony Romo, causing two third quarter fumbles returned for long touchdowns. The attack was so brutal, Romo would collapse in the shower after the game.

That team had a very different look than the one that will take the field Sunday night, particularly on defense. It was Jim Johnson dialing up the pressure with his insane blitzing schemes, and Brian Dawkins who shattered Romo's vertebrate as if it were made of glass. The destruction was beautiful. Though the cast of characters is a little different this time around, it's hard to believe the quarterback won't be thinking about that day every time he sees our shade of green.

Romo Still Dealing With Divas

Just not in his personal life anymore. Jerry Jones dumped T.O. around the same time Tony dumped Jessica, but there still aren't enough balls to go around in Big D. And to think, many of you were actually upset when the Cowboys "won" the Roy Williams sweepstakes.

"It's just not even close," Williams said. "It's not even funny. Not even close. I'm the No. 1 receiver, but things are just going No. 2's way."

"He gets the ball thrown correctly his way," Williams said of Austin. "I'm stretching and falling and doing everything. Everybody [else] who's been here's balls are there. Our footballs [from Romo to Williams] are everywhere right now."

We've taken our shots at Romo, but Williams, with all of his 14 catches for 293 yards and 2 touchdowns, needs to look in the mirror. He's been completely irrelevant in their passing game, and possibly not even a serviceable wide receiver in the NFL anymore.

Guess Who's Back... Back Again...

Brian Westbrook returns to the lineup from a concussion, and it's old news. Remember when this offense ran through 36? Does anybody think now, assuming McCoy stayed healthy, the Eagles would even miss a beat without him?

Alright, that's a little unfair. He's a far more effective blocker in the backfield, can create mismatches in the passing game, and he's still Brian Westbrook. It's just the Eagles have so many more weapons now than they have ever had before, especially since Shady finally broke that big run we talked about after the Redskins game, that whether BWest plays or not no longer feels like the top story, not even much of an issue.

Great to have you back in the lineup though, Brian.  Let's see if you've been saving some of your magic for nights like these.
