Pittsburgh Steelers safety Troy Polamalu was fined $10,000 by the NFL on Friday for talking on his cell phone in the bench area during last Sunday's win over Jacksonville.
League rules prohibit the use of cell phones in the bench are from 90 minutes prior to kickoff to the conclusion of the game.
Green Bay Packers linebacker A.J. Hawk also was fined $10,000 for flashing an obscene gesture to his team's sideline during Sunday's win over the St. Louis Rams.
Punishments were levied against Washington Redskins linebacker Brian Orakpo, Minnesota defensive tackle Kevin Williams and San Francisco rookie linebacker Aldon Smith, who were each fined $15,000 apiece.
Orakpo was punished for a helmet-to-helmet hit on Philadelphia quarterback Michael Vick. Smith was disciplined for hitting Detroit Lions QB Matthew Stafford while Williams was cited for a hit to the head/neck area of Chicago QB Jay Cutler.
