One of the areas that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers want to improve on in 2014 is their pass rush. Last season the Bucs totaled just 35 sacks, which put them at number 24 overall in the NFL. Football Outsiders also gave their defensive line mediocre grades for getting to the quarterback.
With an eye on getting more pressure, the Bucs looked for help from an unexpected place yesterday. According to the team’s Twitter acount they have signed defensive end James Ruffin of the AFL’s Spokane Shock:
The @SpokaneShock's career sack leader James Ruffin has signed an @nfl contract with the @TBBuccaneers. More here http://t.co/77CnwkZKCd

Ruffin led the league in sacks this season with 14. He had a short stint with Tampa back in 2010 but did not see game action.
At training camp today Ruffin jumped right in and looked solid:
The two DEs signed today, Ryne Giddins & James Ruffin, getting an immediate shot at reps because D.Bowers & S.Solomon are sitting this 1 out
