The Bengals have officially announced that they have re-signed DT Tank Johnson. Johnson will be entering his seventh season. He joined the Bengals last April and had 39 tackles with two sacks in 14 games with 13 starts. His one-year Cincinnati contract had expired, and he was again an unrestricted free agent prior to today’s signing. Said coach Marvin Lewis in a statement: “Signing Tank now is a positive step for both him and the defensive team. He was a very consistent performer last season and was a big part of our improved run defense. He is a tough-minded man who is a great pro during the week and brings a great competitive attitude to the field on Sunday.” Johnson missed two games and parts of two others with a foot injury, but he returned to start the last 11 games. He also started the playoff game against the Jets and tied for the team lead in tackles with 10.
