Miami Dolphins coach Joe Philbin declined to help hype the possible all-rookie showdown Sunday between quarterbacks Andrew Luck and Ryan Tannehill. ''I don't think it's really a big deal,'' Philbin said. The coach's enthusiasm might have been tempered by the possibility Tannehill won't play against the Indianapolis Colts. He left Sunday's victory over the New York Jets in the first quarter with left knee and thigh injuries, and practiced on a limited basis Wednesday. Tannehill wore a brace and thigh-to-ankle sleeve on his left leg. He participated in passing drills, but backup Matt Moore took the snaps with the starters at the beginning of team drills, while Pat Devlin worked with the second team. Tannehill was cleared to practice after undergoing an MRI exam. He declined to predict whether he'll be able to play Sunday. ''I'm just taking it one day at a time,'' he said. ''I'm going to do everything I can to...

Dolphins Injury Report: Ryan Tannehill Update

Ryan Tannehill acknowledged that if needed he probably could have re-entered Sunday's game against the New York Jets.  However, he was not needed.  The woeful Jets could do nothing against Miami, so there was no sense in risking Tannehill further.  An MRI was still scheduled after he was knocked out of the game with a knee injury.  Tannehill went for the MRI yesterday. ...

Miami Dolphins contender or pretender?

It has been four years since the Miami Dolphins have been interesting. Hats off to rookie head coach Joe Philbin and rookie quarterback Ryan Tannehill for having such a positive impact on an organization that many didn’t want anything to do with. They even needed Chad Johnson and Lauren Tannehill just to make HBO’s Hard Knocks relevant. Regardless, the Dolphins are in the playoff...

Dolphins like Tannehill more than Colts' Luck

DAVIE, Fla. -- The "Suck for Luck" campaign was in full force a year ago. The Miami Dolphins were 0-7 and in position to land Andrew Luck with the top pick in the NFL draft. It didn't happen. The Dolphins suddenly turned matters around and finished 6-10. Indianapolis ended up with the highly touted quarterback. But the Dolphins have come out OK. They managed to get...

Dolphins, Colts to meet in a game nobody thought would mean anything

Both teams coming off big wins and holding 4-3 records currently have playoff spots. If the season were to end to the Dolphins would finish 5th and with the Colts rounding out the final playoff spot in the AFC. Despite very low expectations for...

Mike Pouncey: Ryan Tannehill is NFL’s best rookie QB, will be like Tom Brady

You could easily make the argument that Ryan Tannehill has exceeded expectations as the starting quarterback of the Miami Dolphins this season. His TD-to-interception ratio of 4-to-6 is underwhelming, but Tannehill’s quarterback rating of 75.8 is not all that bad for a rookie leading an offense. Most importantly, he has played well enough to lead the Dolphins to a 4-3 record. But...
