Tarvaris Jackson on Sage Rosenfels Deal

Tarvaris Jackson told Sirius NFL Radio that he expected (via Access Vikings) the team to make a quarterback move, and therefore wasn’t taken off-guard when the Sage Rosenfels trade was completed: It wasn’t really a big surprise. I kind of figured they were going to make a move somewhere. I really didn’t know exactly if it was going to be in the draft or wherever but I knew I was going to have to compete with somebody sometime this year. So it really doesn’t matter exactly. I just know the only thing I can do is just take care of my part and that’s what I’ll try to do. Yeah, but I imagine Tarvaris would’ve felt more comfortable competing with a guy like Gus Frerotte who was old and in the last year of his contract.  Or a new draft pick who was even greener and more clueless than him.  Sage Rosenfels is the best competition Jackson has had in his Vikings career (which doesn’t say a lot for the level of guy the team has generally brought in).  But, Jackson still has some advantages:  He’s been in the offense longer.  He has better physical tools than Sage.  And, most importantly, he’s Chilly’s guy, meaning Chilly will probably give him a little longer leash.  The best thing about all this is that I won’t have to wonder what to blog about once camp starts.
