The moves are coming thick and fast today. After it was announced that the team had cut twelve players prior to Monday's deadline, multiple sources are now reporting that Tarvaris Jacskon has been traded to the Bills for a late-round pick. Along with Barrett Ruud's trade to New Orleans, this is now the second time that John Schneider has been able to get something in return for a player the Seahawks were likely going to cut soon anyway.

I have to admit, I'm sorry to see Jackson leave. When he came over from the Vikings last year, his lengthy highlight reel of panicked interceptions didn't inspire much confidence. He spent the first part of the season getting the crap beaten out of him behind a developing offensive line, and to add insult to injury he was also treated to loud boos and derisive opinions & analyses from pretty much everyone who wrote about the team, myself included. To his credit, Jackson never sniped back at any of his detractors, never lost his temper, and never stopped competing on the field no matter how injured he was. He quietly won his teammates over with his humble leadership and respectably decent play, and as the season wore on he won over over most of his detractors, too.

Jackson joins a Bills team in dire need of a solid backup quarterback. Ryan Fitzpatrick is the clear starter, but Vince Young and Tyler Thigpen have been so bad this preseason that no coach who wants to keep his job would trust either one of them to be one awkward sack away from running their team's offense. Here's hoping the fans in Buffalo give him a warmer welcome than we gave him. I think he's earned that much, at least.
