Golden Tate needed just one game to show why his future with the Seahawks will be bright. Inactive in the team’s opening win against San Francisco, the rookie wideout made a solid first impression with his only three touches, pulling a 52-yard pass from Matt Hasselbeck and returning two punts for 82 yards in Sunday’s 31-14 loss to Denver. His first return resulted in a 63-yard sprint that set up Seattle’s first touchdown. Tate will likely handle the full-time punt return duties in Sunday’s game against San Diego, replacing Justin Forsett and Walter Thurmond. Forsett began Sunday with the role, but was replaced in favor of Thurmond, who then fumbled his only attempt; the turnover then led to a Broncos touchdown that put the Seahawks in a 17-0 deficit. Coach Pete Carroll and offensive coordinator Jeremy Bates will use the week to get Tate more involved in the offense.
