Tavon Austin went from bust to boom in one fell swoop on Sunday. Austin, who was the eighth overall pick in April’s draft, hadn’t done much to confirm his lofty draft status through the first nine weeks of his rookie season. But the speedy receiver did all he could to change those opinions with a big day against the Colts on Sunday. Austin scored three touchdowns in a 12-minute span on Sunday, returning a punt 98 yards for a touchdown before reeling in a pair of monster passes and turning on the jets to blaze his way into the end zone. While all three touchdowns were eye opening, Austin’s third score of the day may have been his most impressive. Already up 28-0, the Rams got the ball to begin the second half, and quarterback Kellen Clemens looked Autin’s way almost immediately on the drive. Austin ran a quick pattern across the middle of the field and found a massive gap in the middle of the Colts’ defense. Clemens delivered the ball in stride for Austin, and the rookie did the rest of the work, blowing by a few defenders and slicing in between two Colts defensive backs on his way to an 81-yard score. And he celebrated his third score in style, too, getting down with the Terio dance and shimmying along with tight end Jared Cook. Check out Austin’s impressive score and shimmy in the GIF below.
