The New York Jets announced Sunday that quarterback Tim Tebow is active and will back up starter Mark Sanchez against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Greg McElroy, who came in for the benched Sanchez during last week's 7-6 win over the Arizona Cardinals, is inactive. Tebow missed the last two games because of fractured ribs and was listed as questionable for Sunday's game. He practiced on a limited basis during the week. Jets coach Rex Ryan contemplated replacing Sanchez with McElroy as the starter during the week, but instead McElroy will not play.

Preview: Jets (5-7) @ Jaguars (2-10)

This week the Jets travel to Tim Tebow's hometown to play the Jaguars, unfortunately for the legion of Tebow supporters who undoubtedly wanted to line up to watch him play quarterback, equally unfortunate for many Jet fans that Greg McElroy won't be getting the start either, as you know, since it's all that anyone has talked about the entire week, Mark Sanchez will remain...

Rex Ryan: Tebow probably disappointed with Jets

What was hinted at a few weeks ago has been all but confirmed: Tim Tebow is largely unhappy with the Jets. Following a Week 14 contest in which Tebow received zero snaps, head coach Rex Ryan admitted that the backup quarterback likely is disappointed he came to New York this offseason. "That's probably a true statement, as a competitor you want to have success, you want...

Tebow listed as questionable for Sunday

Backup quarterback Tim Tebow practiced on a restricted basis this week and was questionable on the injury report for Sunday's game against Jacksonville. Tebow could be a game-time decision on whether his injured ribs are healed enough to back up starter Mark Sanchez. Tebow will travel with Jets, be game-time decision

Rex Ryan says he'll make a game-time decision on whether Tim Tebow plays in the New York Jets' game in Jacksonville against the Jaguars on Sunday. Tebow, healing from two broken ribs, will travel to his hometown with the team and Ryan will determine before the game if the backup quarterback plays. Ryan says Tebow, who was limited all week in practice, did a lot more on the...

ESPN president pulls back network's Tim Tebow obsession

Yesterday, ESPN President John Skipper was named Sports Business Journal's most influential executive in sports.  While that's an impressive footnote to his resume, Skipper has done something infinitely more important and influential.  He's done something previously thought impossible except for an act of God or the coming of the endtimes... or both. John Skipper...

ESPN president: Enough with the Tebow coverage

ESPN president John Skipper told producers what NFL fans have been aware of since week one — there's too much coverage of Tim Tebow on the cable network. Only in New York? Greg McElroy declared inactive for Jets after leading them to victory in week 13

Per multiple sources including Jason LaCanfora on twitter Tim Tebow is active today for the Jets. Tebow has been the second man on the Jets depth chart all year; so, maybe it was a ‘can’t lose your spot due to injury’ piece; maybe Rex Ryan thinks he’s their best backup quarterback; or maybe it was a marketing ploy by Woody Johnson and/or NFL higherups; either way, McElroy...

Pity the New York Jets: Reid latest with swipe
