Tim Tebow declined to speak at First Baptist Church of Dallas this month but that doesn't mean the popular NFL quarterback isn't still making a Dallas trip in the upcoming weeks. Tebow is scheduled to speak at an Involved for Life event on April 26 at the Dallas Omni Hotel. The New York Jets quarterback and former Heisman Trophy winner will then speak at a Trinity Christian Academy fundraiser on April 27 at the Hilton Anatole Dallas. "We're thrilled he's coming and delighted to have him," Carolyn Cline, president and CEO of Involved for Life, said this week. "He's a great fit and a great stand-up guy." A representative from the Trinity Christian Academy fundraiser confirmed that Tebow has not cancelled his April 27 speaking engagement. "TCA is thrilled to have an iconic football star join us for our annual fundraising dinner, and we look forward to hearing Tim Tebow's testimony and learning more about his life experiences," TCA Headmaster Dave Delph said in a September news release. Tickets are still available for both events. In February, Tebow canceled a speaking opportunity at First Baptist Dallas in what appeared to be a decision to stay free of controversy. The church's pastor, Dr. Robert Jeffress, has made many controversial statements regarding homosexuality, Mormonism and Catholicism. The following statement was posted on Tebow's official Twitter account on Feb. 21: "While I was looking forward to sharing a message of hope and Christ's unconditional love with the faithful members of the historic First Baptist Church of Dallas in April, due to new information that has been brought to my attention, I have decided to cancel my upcoming appearance. I will continue to use the platform God has blessed me with to bring Faith, Hope and Love to all those needing a brighter day. Thank you for all of your love and support. God Bless!" Despite having very little impact for the Jets last season, Tebow continues to be one of the most talked about professional athletes. That popularity and the 25-year-old's Christian faith have led to him raising millions of dollars for various charities. The Tim Tebow Foundation alone raised over 4 million in 2012.
