Mark Sanchez looks stronger and healthy, coach Rex Ryan said. But all eyes at the Jets' first organized team activity open to the media were on the backup quarterback.

Tim Tebow often appeared a step behind in the team's seven-on-seven drills and threw two interceptions on plays he later said were brand new. Linebacker Bart Scott, who drew praise from Ryan for "being Bart Scott" again, intercepted Tebow's first pass and free-agent newcomer Yeremiah Bell snagged the other, which was also floated over the middle.

"It's definitely frustrating," Tebow said. "But it's 7 on 7. Those plays, were the first time I ran them. So I'll learn from it. Honestly, it won't bother me again. When you make the bad play, you got to put it behind you and move on. I felt like I did.

Tebow later practiced as the up man in the punt formation, a role he said will be fun, and the Jets discussed with him in great detail. It adds the run-pass threat for protection teams, but also means Tebow has to block and tackle.

Tebow's college coach, Urban Meyer, was in town to take in the practice and Tebow said they had dinner Wednesday night.

Sanchez, the team's embattled starter, opened eyes with a long 75-yard touchdown to rookie Stephen Hill, who zipped past Kyle Wilson easily. Ryan said after practice that Sanchez's arm is stronger than ever. While Tebow said the practice had a competitive vibe, Sanchez was relaxed and appears prepared to spend the season under the microscope.

"(Tebow's) popularity drives a lot of that," Sanchez said. "At the same time, I wouldn't be in this position if I couldn't handle it. And I’m prepared for it."
