New York Jets backup quarterback Tim Tebow will not play in the team's exhibition finale at the Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday. ESPN.com reported Saturday that Jets coach Rex Ryan does not play starters in the final games of the preseason, meaning Mark Sanchez will not play, either. That leaves Greg McElroy and Matt Simms at quarterback against the Eagles. The Jets will only have three days' rest between their third and fourth exhibition games as they will take on the Carolina Panthers on Sunday. Tebow is scheduled to play in the fourth quarter. Sanchez will play the first three quarters. Tebow has completed only 9 of 22 passes for 96 yards, with one interception in 3 1/2 quarters of exhibition play. He has been sacked four times. He also has rushed six times for 39 yards, second-most on the team. In all, he has played 10 possessions totaling 51 plays. Both scoring drives he led resulted in field goals. When asked about his smaller role, Tebow said, "No, it'...

The Passion Of The Tebow, Or How The NFL Became A Reality Show

Jebus wants this mic to be liveMy friend and occasional FTT writer Tracer Bullet posted about the NFL Network's Tim Tebow documentary, with the pretty by-the-book reaction of how irritating this whole thing is. My reaction was as follows:Like all men having to wear hats at all times did for us, the Tebow Phenomenon is going to comfort future generations that they are much, much...

QB Newton: Big Tebow fan, downplays reunion

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- While Cam Newton says he's a big Tim Tebow fan, he downplayed the reunion on Sunday night with his former college teammate. Newton said his focus this week isn't on renewing old friendships but rather on continuing to build momentum on offense when the Panthers (No. 20 in the AP Pro32) visit the New York Jets in what'll certainly be his last significant...

New York Jets: Biggest Home Game of the Year

In his third season as head coach of the New York Jets, Rex Ryan saw his team take a step back, failing to reach the playoffs for the first time during his tenure. How did the Jets respond during the offseason? They added one of the most polarizing figures in the NFL today: Tim Tebow. Just having Tebow on the sidelines is reason enough for fans to show up on most Sundays, but New...

Jets yet to score a touchdown in preseason

It’s the preseason. It’s important not to get too excited or too worried about anything that happens in the preseason. Starters rarely play into the 2nd half and game plans are as vanilla as they come on both sides of the ball. Countless players don’t play for precautionary reasons with injuries they would play through during the regular season. Aaron Rodgers is 20 of 41 (48...

Panthers hold off Jets in preseason win

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) -- Mark Sanchez looked pretty good for nearly three quarters. He just couldn't get the New York Jets into the end zone -- again. Tim Tebow had the play of the game, but also couldn't get that elusive preseason touchdown for the Jets. Tebow got the fans fired up with a dazzling 20-yard run in the fourth quarter, but threw an interception three...

Catch any of the Jets-Panthers game last night? Jets looked good right? This time is becoming more and more of a laughing stock with every passing week. The media is quickly becoming very critical and so are fans. They’re sick of Tebow...
