According to Jim Wyatt of The Tennessean, the Tennessee Titans are fully expected to cut former superstar running back Chris Johnson this offseason. There have been rumors swirling all season long about Johnson’s future with the team, and his displeasure with the way that he was being used. It will certainly be different not seeing Johnson in a Titans uniform after six seasons of being known as a star. “The Titans have swung and missed on many running backs over the years they had big plans for, as those guys flamed out. At some point this offseason, the light is going to go out on Johnson’s days in Tennessee. In my opinion, it’s not a matter of if he’s released, but when.” - Jim Wyatt If Johnson does indeed end up getting released, there will be quite a few teams lining up to sign him. He’s made it very clear that he can still play football and simply needs to be used in a different way. Johnson didn’t have as big of a season as many have grown accustomed to, but he still put up decent numbers this past year. Johnson carried the football 279 times for a total of 1,077 yards and six touchdowns. Obviously those aren’t great numbers, but they are better than quite a few other running backs in the NFL. One team to keep an eye on according to early reports is the Miami Dolphins. They are interested in pairing Johnson with Ryan Tannehill and trying to make a run in the AFC East. All that being said, keep an eye on Chris Johnson’s name this offseason. The post Tennessee Titans expected to cut Chris Johnson appeared first on Sports Glory.

Matt Leinart crushes his former coach Ken Whisenhunt

Who remembers Matt Leinart?  I do, and to be honest he was not a very good quarterback in the NFL.  Well at leas he is entertaining when it comes to talking to the media.  Today he called out his former head coach saying that Kurt Warner should get credit for the Super Bowl not Ken […]The post Matt Leinart crushes his former coach Ken Whisenhunt appeared first on NFL Draft Diamonds.

Ask DraftSeason | Titans Look to Add a Quarterback in the Draft?

Question: What ya thinking for my Titans … do they spend a pick on a quarterback in the first 3 rounds??? How much longer will they give Locker before they try something new? - Smokin Joe | Spring Hill, Tennessee Response: Smokin Joe, thanks for the question. There are a lot of different things I want to address in this question. 1. The Titans only own two picks in the first three...

Is Chris Johnson close to the end of his career?

Not too long ago, Chris Johnson looked to be on a Hall of Fame track. The guy ran for 2,006 yards as a 24-year-old in his second year with the Tennessee Titans. He had an insane 3,997 yards from scrimmage and 26 touchdowns in his first 31 games. Only two players in NFL history had more yards during their first two seasons in the league.  But in the four years since that historic...

New Tennessee Titans head coach Ken Whisenhunt is still piecing a staff together. One name that has been discussed is former Jaguars head coach Mike Mularky. It is being reported by Adam Shefter of ESPN, that the Titans are waiting to see if Mularky will join the staff, instead of joining Mike Zimmer in Minnesota. Former Jaguars HC Mike Mularkey is deciding whether to accept a position...

Report: Chris Johnson to be released by Titans

Reports are beginning to surface that the Tennessee Titans, led by new head coach Ken Whisenhunt, will release running back Chris Johnson. I still believe, as i said a few weeks ago, #Titans will cut Chris Johnson. More reports circulating echoing that sentiment #sportsrants — Anthony DiMoro (@AnthonyDiMoro) January 16, 2014 The narrative yesterday and this morning was more about...

Titans' Running Back Chris Johnson to be Cut?

Christopher Duan Johnson is continuing to act entitled, and now headlines a short-list of NFL players that have inflated their true value as a player based on past performances. Johnson was paid $10 M last season, and barely eclipsed 1,000-yards rushing. Nonetheless, he's dynamic and has rushed for 1,000-yards every season throughout his career. Being said, is he worth the...

Obviously, Mike Munchak Would Be A Perfect Hire By Mike Tomlin

Former Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Munchak was reportedly in Pittsburgh on Friday to interview for the Steelers offensive line coach position and you aren't likely to find many people that are disappointed to hear that. Munchak, who was elected into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2001 for his 12 years of play at guard for the Houston Oilers, also has a very impressive...

Matt Leinart criticizes Titans hire of Ken Whisenhunt

Matt Leinart as a member of the Arizona Cardinals with Ken Whisenhunt. (AP Photo/Matt York)   Many people in the NFL world are very impressed with the hire of Ken Whisenhunt as the head coach of the Tennessee Titans, and expect him to turn things around in Nashville. Matt Leinart is not one of those people. Whisenhunt, who was the Arizona Cardinals head coach from 2007 to 2012,...

Ken Whisenhunt to Call Offensive Plays for Titans

The Tennessee Titans are very close to signing John McNulty as their next offensive coordinator, but the role will apparently come without one key ability -- calling the plays on offense. The freshly minted Ken Whisenhunt will assume the play calling role for the Titans in 2014, something that he is quite familiar with.At his press conference, Whisenhunt stated that he intends...

Titans hire Jason Michael as offensive coordinator

The Tennessee Titans on Friday hired a new offensive coordinator, Jason Michael. Michael is a familiar face for head coach and offensive playcaller Ken Whisenhunt, serving under him last year in San Diego as the tight ends coach. Michael was a holdover in San Diego from the previous regime, having previously been hired by Norv Turner before the 2011 season. While in San Diego...

Parsing Ken Whisenhunt's first answers as Titans head coach

I finally got a chance to watch and parse all of Ken Whisenhunt's introductory press conference. For those of you who haven't, the transcript the team posted is pretty accurate and complete. One of the difficult things about parsing an opening press conference, especially when the coach in question was just hired from an NFL job, is (a) almost every coach says they want...

Leinart says Kurt Warner -- not Whisenhunt -- ran Cards

Ken Whisenhunt was hired by the Titans on Monday to fix a Tennessee offense with plenty of questions at the quarterback position. His fine work with Philip Rivers in San Diego and his trip to the Super Bowl with the Cardinals in 2008 helped make Whisenhunt one of this winter's top coaching candidates, but one former quarterback from his Arizona days panned the hire. "I...

Matt Leinart takes a shot at Ken Whisenhunt, says it was Warner that got the Cards to the Super Bowl

Former Arizona Cardinal and NFL quarterback Matt Leinart recently appeared on FOX Sports Live to talk about the hiring of Ken Whisenhunt by the Tennessee Titans this past Monday and whether or not it was a good fit. Leinhart, who spend three seasons under Whisenhunt however didn’t have very glowing remarks about his old head […]
