Tennessee Titans Officially Add DL Trevon Coley After Waiving DB A.J. Moore
USA TODAY Sports

The Tennessee Titans continue their preseason roster churn with back-to-back moves on Sunday and Monday. First, the Titans released safety A.J. Moore, then brought in a familiar face in Trevon Coley to add to the defensive line.

Coley, 6-foot-1 and 310 pounds, spent time with the Titans in 2021 before an injury prevented him from ever seeing the field in the regular season and placed him on injured reserved. Coley now returns, looking for a roster spot and hoping to see his first regular season action since 2020.

Coley has been in the NFL for five seasons now. He spent 2018 with the Cleveland Browns, 2019 with the Indianapolis Colts and 2020 with the Arizona Cardinals. After Coley's lost year with the Titans in 2021, he spent time on the Chicago Bears' practice squad in 2022.

In his five seasons, Coley has played in 44 games, making 31 starts. He has racked up 100 tackles, 14 tackles for a loss and 3.5 sacks. He has a chance to build on those totals with the Titans.

Clearly, the Titans' coaching staff isn't satisfied with the defensive line play. They have added three defensive linemen in the past week with Coley adding to Kyle Peko and Michael Dwumfour. Players like T.K. McLendon, Jaleel Johnson, Naquan Jones and Tyler Shelvin should be on notice.

As for the first move to waive safety A.J. Moore, the Titans must have seen enough from the players they already have at the position like Mike Brown, Tyreque Jones, Matthew Jackson and Josh Thompson.

Moore has been with the Titans for two separate stints in the last two seasons now. He played in one game in 2022 before an injury ended his season and then missed some time after he was signed this summer recovering from injury, only to get waived after finally getting back to the field this week.

The Titans will continue making moves as the NFL's cutdown day on August 29 approaches.
