The Tennessee Titans have been written off by many this season after winning only twice in their last six games before taking on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday. However, given the circumstances which unfolded on Sunday, the Tennessee Titans have to be considered right in the mix for the AFC South division title. The Houston Texans already were going to have to go the remainder of the season without starter Matt Schaub who suffered a lis franc injury in their game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Matt Leinart started in his place, and while playing a solid first half, is now likely lost for the remainder of the season with a broken collar bone. Yes, Houston has a solid defense and a strong running game with Arian Foster and Ben Tate, but can rookie QB T.J. Yates continue to lead the Texans to wins the rest of the season? With a win against the Buffalo Bills this week, the Titans might be able to gain a game on the Texans with Houston having to play against the Atlan...

NFL Network Talks T.J. Yates

Today NFL Network continued the most media coverage in Houston Texans history when they looked at the new starter T.J. Yates, the potential of the offense under Yates and what the Texans will have to do to close out the AFC South.   Watch Here

T.J. Yates Called to Duty

With Matt Schaub and now Matt Leinart out for the season, the Texans turn the keys over the rookie quarterback T.J. Yates. Yates was a 5th round pick (152nd) overall in the 2011 NFL Draft, and is now put into a situation that all Texans fans did not want to see.   Yates showed promise during [...]

T.J. Yates, who starred at Pope High and set 37 records at North Carolina, at the 2011 NFL Scouting Combine. (D. Orlando Ledbetter/ Taylor Jonathan Yates, who played at Pope High before going on to star at North Carolina, will start against the Falcons on Sunday, according to John McClain of The Houston Chronicle. The Texans are set to workout Jake Delhomme and...

Houston Texans: Who is T.J. Yates?

It was a devastating blow for the Houston Texans when they lost Matt Schaub for the season. The Texans finally had everything going for them and didn't have to worry about Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts winning the division. The Texans turned to Matt Leinart, but with one play his season ended and rookie T.J. Yates is now the face of the team and the foreseeable future...

Falcons look to develop killer instinct

Before arriving in the Lone Star State to take on the Houston Texans, the Falcons are hoping they can develop a killer instinct. In wins over Tennessee and Minnesota, Atlanta let both opponents stick around before pulling out victories that could have been routs. When the Falcons face the 8-3 Texans and third-string quarterback T.J. Yates, they'll need to finish if they are...

Week 12 Fantasy Football Recap: Texas vs Jaguars

The Texans were forced to play 3rd String QB TJ Yates in Week 12 but still managed to beat the Jaguars 20-13.

Texans survive QB disaster, move to 8-3

The Texans’ defense did the job today, pummeling poor, hopeless Blaine “I wish I had half the poise that TJ Yates has in the pocket” Gabbert for seven sacks. Connor Barwin continued his breakout season, notching four of those sacks. Of course, the big news of the day is that Matt Leinart may be out for the season. Right now, the Texans are playing the “we aren’t sure...

Texans stress Delhomme is in town to help Yates

It’s almost as if the Texans prepped Jake Delhomme’s agent with talking points.  Jake Delhomme’s job with the Texans is to help T.J. Yates, not take over as starter. “Jake is fired up and ready to go and will do everything he can to support T.J.,” said Delhomme’s agent Rick Smith via the Houston Chronicle.…

Falcons must focus on stopping the run

Each week, John Lynch breaks down a dynamic NFL offensive playmaker, devises a game plan and discusses a strategy for success. This week, Lynch examines how the Atlanta Falcons defense should attack Houston Texans rookie QB T.J. Yates. I get it -- at first glance, Sunday's game between Atlanta and Houston might look a lot like a zoo trainer throwing a fresh piece of meat to...

NFL Weekly Recap: Week 12

Another week, another crushing blow for the Houston Texans.  The current top dog in the AFC lost yet another quarterback on Sunday, leaving a rookie 5th round pick charged with leading the Texans to the promised land. Are they still the team to beat in the AFC, or will they just be holding on desperate to a playoff spot? We talk about all that and more in this week’s recap....

Daunte Culpepper, still waiting for a call

With Houston down to T.J. Yates and Kellen Clemens and either Brodie Croyle or Sage Rosenfels or maybe Dan Pastorini, it’s critical that the Texans add a quarterback with veteran postseason experience, if the team hopes to have a good experience in the postseason. They’ve scratched Favre off the list, sort of.  And for good…

Let’s meet Andre Johnson’s new quarterback (for now), TJ Yates

That's Matt Schaub pictured above on the left, sharing a postgame fist-bump with his replacement's replacement, first-year quarterback TJ Yates. Schaub, of course, is done for the year, placed on injured reserve due to Lisfranc ligament damage in his right foot. Matt Leinart was Schaub's backup, but he apparently suffered a season-ending injury on Sunday, likely fracturing...

Week 13 Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Options

Man, it’s getting tough to make it through a week of football without a season ending injury. This time we have another quarterback and it happened to a player, Matt Leinart, on a team, the Houston Texans, that already lost a starting quarterback, Matt Schaub, for the season. After the Indianapolis Colts lost uber-star QB Peyton Manning for the season the Texans were expected to...
